On June 26th from 5:30 to 7, the monthly TRANSmission Salon will take place at Unfinished Business: A Community Thrift Shop located behind Panera Bread on Route 1 in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. In partnership with CAMP Rehoboth, the TRANSmission Salon, is an opportunity for the transgender community to socialize, shop and relax.

According to Kathy Wiz, board member of CAMP Rehoboth, “TRANSmission helps those transitioning from one sex to another by providing a safe and practical environment to discuss and experiment with fashion choices at discounted thrift store prices. Unfinished Business closes its door to the public and opens its heart to the transgender community for its TRANSmission Salons.. and sponsors this project. “To my knowledge it is the only one of its kind in the nation”, said Wiz.

Lynne Maloy of Unfinished Business finds the TRANSmission Salons “helpful and fun”. She explains that finding your fashion taste takes time and usually lots and lots of money. “Think of it—how many pants sit in our closets, never worn? How many sweaters? If you are transitioning how do you dress so that you are comfortable yet fashionable without breaking the bank?” This is the core philosophy of the Salon.

Sal Seeley outlined the procedures to participate in the Salon—“Call CAMP and talk to me”, he said, “make a reservation. That’s all it takes”. Seeley may be reached at (302) 227-5620 or salvatoreseeley@aol.com
