DLF Seeks Information on Discrimination
Have You Been Denied Access to Your Partner by a Hospital or Nursing
Home?
Delaware Liberty Fund is collecting information from individuals who have
experienced discrimination in caring for their partner. This would include
denial of visitation, refusal to follow the instructions/wishes of a legally
entitled advocate or any other instance where a domestic partner has not had
the same status as a married spouse. The information will be used to
underscore the need for protection of domestic partners rights. Information
will remain confidential.
If you are interested in participating, contact Charles Ingersoll at clirealtor@aol.com,

Writers Conference Night of Music and Song Writing
The third annual "Writers at the Beach: Pure Sea Glass,"
conference, which has added songwriting to its offerings this year, is
kicking off the event on Thursday, March 15, with music by the Shockley
Brothers, Stuart Vining, Bill Larsen and friends at the Atlantic Sands
Restaurant and Grill from 8-10 p.m. The event is free and open to the
public. "A number of the authors and participants are arriving on
Thursday, so we wanted to have something fun to start off the weekend,"
says conference founder, Maribeth Fischer. "And we want to show off
some of our local musicians."
Also open to the public for a fee of $15.00 is the two-part Saturday
morning discussion on the craft of songwriting, featuring Stuart Vining, Ed
Shockley and songwriter and musician Randy Lee Ashcraft. The first half of
the discussion, which starts at 9:30 and finishes at 10:40 will focus on the
difficulty all writers face in trying to tell the same old story (the story
about falling in love, falling out of love, being betrayed, etc.) in a new
way. This difficulty is exacerbated for song writers who must also—ideally—do
this within three to five minutes. The musicians will discuss their methods,
performing songs—their own and others’—to illustrate their points.
The second half of the conversation will focus on the necessity of
working with clichés, the "hook" that most songs need, how
songwriters recognize a good "hook" and where in the writing
process they need to know what exactly the hook is. Again, they will perform
songs —their own and others—to illustrate their points.
For information or to purchase tickets for the Saturday morning (March
17) songwriting discussions go to www.writersatthebeach.com,
e-mail mbfischer1@verizon.net or call 302-226-8210.

Seventeen restaurants participated in Mardi Gras with special New
Orleans-inspired menu items and Mardi Gras parties to raise money for
charity. Although the final figures are not tabulated, Main Street estimates
