A Woman’s Journey is the theme of the Seventh Annual CAMP Rehoboth Women’s
Weekend in Rehoboth Beach, Friday, April 13 through Sunday, April 15,
2007. From the inspiring keynote speaker and informative workshops at the
conference to the fun of its accompanying concerts, golf outing, and
social events, this year’s Women’s Weekend promises something for
everyone.
The weekend kicks-off with a round of golf at 12:30 p.m. on Friday
afternoon at the Rookery Golf Course. The outing will be a casual 9-hole,
random team, best ball round with a variety of prizes to make it a fun and
entertaining afternoon for all participants.
Friday evening entertainment will be provided by Suede,
singer/songwriter and consummate performer. Suede has been described as a
cross between Ella Fitzgerald and Bette Midler with a dash of Louis
Armstrong. Whether it is jazz, blues, pop or folk, you are in for a treat.
Delaware Governor, Ruth Ann Minner will open the Women’s Conference
at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 14. Her presentation will be followed by
the conference workshops, three 50-minute sessions in the morning, each
offering a choice of five different subjects from which to choose. An
additional workshop will be featured after lunch. The sessions are quite
varied and include topics such as business ownership, women’s health,
country line dancing, personal finances, estate planning for same sex
individuals, and home construction and remodeling.
The keynote address will be given at lunchtime by Paula L. Ettelbrick,
Executive Director of the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights
Commission, a US-based global organization that engages in and supports
global sexual and gender rights advocacy. A lawyer by profession, Paula
has a 20-year history in leadership positions within lesbian, gay,
bisexual and transgender advocacy non-profits. She was the legal director
at Lambda Legal Defense, policy director at National Center for Lesbian
Rights, legislative counsel for the Empire State Pride Agenda, and family
policy director at the Policy Institute of the National Gay and Lesbian
Task Force. She is an adjunct professor of law at New York University Law
School, where she teaches Sexuality and the Law.
Karen Williams, M. Ed., an internationally acclaimed and
nationally-known comedienne, humorist and creator of the HaHA Institute,
will provide the Saturday evening entertainment. Karen has over twenty
years of theatrical training, improvisational comedy, dance and movement,
and psychodrama. A frequent entertainer aboard Olivia cruises, Karen
receives standing ovations worldwide.
The Women’s Weekend will conclude with a buffet brunch on Sunday at
