We have just returned from a week’s vacation to find all of our
daffodils in full bloom. Spring truly is just days away! Actually, this
was such a mild winter that we have little to complain about. That won’t
stop me, however. No matter how temperate, I still miss the hours of
light and the energy found in Rehoboth Beach during most of the other
three seasons.
Here at CAMP Rehoboth, we couldn’t do a thing to increase the hours
of sunlight but we did our share to keep the energy in play. For the
first time, the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center offered First Friday Fun
Nights. Basically, the game nights allowed members of the community to
connect, once a month, for companionship and a bit of competition. The
event seems to be a hit so we will continue into the spring and summer,
as long as interest continues.
In February, CAMP Health Days, in partnership with Beebe Medical
Center, offered a number of health screenings and Dr. Nancy Mondero
presented an update on women’s health issues. CAMP Rehoboth and the
Rehoboth Beach Film Society continued their bi-annual film series,
Another Take, offering gay and lesbian themed films.
In addition, the Community Center played, and continues to play, host
to an opera group, and an experiential/educational/ spiritual meeting.
The community visionaries were correct. If you build it, they will come!
(By the way, if you and your group are looking for meeting space, please
give us a call. The Community Center still has time slots available.)
Founders’ Circle
It has been one year since I joined the staff of CAMP Rehoboth. I
have learned a lot during that time. Mostly, I have learned that a
caring, giving bunch of people call our community home. During that one
year, community members pledged a total of $215,575. Our grand total
pledged has reached $1,032,432.08 with $773,979.30 being paid.
If you are not one of the 749 members, please consider adding your
name to the Founders’ Circle permanent records. A donation also makes
a very fitting gift for birthdays and anniversaries. You will be making
an investment in our community, plus it’s a great tax deduction. CAMP
Rehoboth is a 501(c)(3) organization and contributions are tax
deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
CAMP Rehoboth’s board and staff share my appreciation of the
commitment made by all of you who have become recent members of the
Founders’ Circle, upgraded your original pledge, or made your pledge
payment. You are providing the opportunity for our community to come
together, sharing our space and our lives with each other.
