Sex and Love in Sal’s City
Well guys, it sure seems like spring is here. I am so excited about the
longer days and the summer ahead. It is going to be a whole lot of work
but this sunshine is surely good for the soul! I am looking forward to the
challenges that the summer will bring. Let’s face it, love is in the air
and the boys are going to be descending on this paradise in droves very
shortly. There will be lots of fun to be had and hopefully, lots of good
things will happen to the guys who visit and live here in the Rehoboth
Beach area. I am going to be doing my part and I hope you will too.
The last issue arrived just before Valentine’s Day, the cover being
an assortment of those candy hearts that have all of those mushy messages
stamped on them. Valentine’s Day is the day we all think amorous
thoughts and show the people we love that we care about them. That weekend
I went away to visit some of my family. I needed to do it; it had been a
long time. I was able to catch up with some of my friends in Connecticut
and mourn the end of Sex in the City. So, we set out to have our own heart
to heart discussions on sex, love and intimacy. Here are some of the
things that we talked about.
One of my friends told me that a small vase appeared on his desk with
one very red rose in it. Another friend came back from a trip and there
were flowers on his desk with a big box of Godiva chocolates in a red
heart shaped box! "The guy who sent them really cares and is so
thoughtful," he said. I agree! It is nice to have people in your
lives who take time out to do those special things.
So, we spent the evening discussing men and these are the conclusions
that we came up with. We want the man in our life to remember everything,
like our birthday, favorite color, what size clothes we wear and the kind
of clothes we like. He knows our favorite music and what kind of service
our car needs next. He encourages us to reach for the stars and achieve
every goal we have. He is always there to listen and offer objective
advice. No matter what we might have done to scare him away, he is always
there. He looks for the good things we do and tries to forget the bad. He
never says no to us and is always ready to pay a compliment or offer some
encouragement.
We want the man in our life to be interested in us sexually, but there
is one thing he can do that really makes us know he cares about us—be
prepared. One of my friends has a lover that has a magic bag when he
visits him. This magic bag has everything in it you could need for a good,
safe time. It has his favorite lube in it with his favorite condoms, along
with a few other essential items. No matter where they are, no matter what
they are in the mood for, he can always count on the fact that the bag is
just an arm’s reach away. He never forgets and there is always plenty of
what they need. Sex isn’t everything but it sure is nice when you have
it with someone who cares and is prepared. Knowing that these things are
available builds a whole lot of trust too.
Whether or not you are spending time with someone you love or someone
you would like to love or just someone with whom you can have a good time,
do the right thing. Show them you care about yourself and about them as
well. Be prepared. You never know what these things will turn into. Do
your best to make sure they are not regrets. Be prepared with condoms,
lube, and the knowledge of how to use them correctly and safely. Find out
what safer sex means. Practice it and practice it some more.
CAMPsafe is here to help you with this endeavor. You will find me at
CAMP Rehoboth most days, ready to answer any of your questions. I also
