Thank you for your contribution to the HERO
“VIVA LAS VEGAS” Spring Event. The donation of 7 Sundance prints will
make a great addition to our auction tables! This is our fourth annual
auction and dance, and with help from your donation, we hope it will be a
huge success.
This year’s event will help to raise the
needed funding which enables HERO to continue the support services that
are provided to people affected by HIV/AIDS in the Baltimore area.
Events such as this do not happen without
assistance, and we are grateful for the support and active participation
of businesses and organizations like yours.
Again, please accept our many thanks for
your help.

It is with great pleasure that the Friends
of CAMP Rehoboth enclose checks totaling $455.00 as a donation to the
Women’s Project. This represents one half of the proceeds raised
recently from our very successful, “Evening of Cabaret with Liz DuFour.”
The other half of the proceeds are being sent to WomenHeart to help
further their efforts relating to women’s heart disease.
The cabaret evening was a sell out with 80
people attending. Liz DuFour and her surprise guest tenor, David Colbert,
were instant successes as soon as her fingers hit the piano keys and their
vocal cords kicked in. Thanks to Inez and Kathleen, the Sea Witch Manor
Inn & Spa provided the intimate atmosphere so amenable to cabaret. We
received many thanks from the attendees for putting on such a nice evening
and they hope we might have a repeat performance of some sort down the
road. I had many cabaret elves without whom the event would not have been
so successful and they were acknowledged during my introduction.
I would personally like to thank Steve,
Kathy and Ellen Feinberg for support and patience during my novice attempt
at a fundraiser. Also, a very special thank you to Murray for his work in
developing such a wonderful advertisement for the event. Thanks to the
efforts of those mentioned above, the evening was a great success.

Don’t tell us we don’t need any more
laws!
As gay people we are subject to being
killed, physically bashed and insulted wherever we go and neither the
federal government nor 22 states have a hate crimes law covering sexual
orientation. Thirteen states’ “sodomy laws” make us sexual
criminals. In 37 states we can be fired or not hired just for being gay.
Most places we can lose our children and not be able to adopt. We can be
legally refused food, clothing and lodging in 37 states.
Gay youth commit suicide 4-5 times the rate
straight youth do, yet the Boy Scouts can legally exclude gay kids.
Gays may not serve in the military without
lying about who they are. Gay men may not donate blood no matter how
healthy and monogamous they are.
No state permits same-gender marriage with
the myriad of rights entailed in heterosexual marriage. The IRS taxes what
few domestic partnership benefits we might have but does not tax
opposite-gender marriage benefits. We could go on.
Special rights? Uh-uh, we want equal
rights. And here’s a secret! The much touted Gay Agenda is just this: to
be treated like Americans.
Toward equality,
Messrs. Douglas & Corey Marshall-Steele
