Connections
Like so many of you, I moved to Rehoboth Beach for a sense of
community and acceptance—a place to be proud of and the feeling of
being connected to others. A place where acceptance is the norm, not
something you worked to achieve. (Did we forget that no matter how hard
you work, you have no control over others prejudices?) Okay! Now that
you don't have those concerns of acceptance to keep you up at night or
send you to the chiropractor bent like a pretzel, is that it?
For most of us in the community, we truly appreciate what we have and
don't take it for granted. As we move into a new season here in Rehoboth
Beach, I respectfully offer these reminders: Get involved in the
community; defend good government, and volunteer with community
organizations.
When you do take part, our community benefits. Perhaps just as
important, so do you! You gain new acquaintances, feel a part of
something worthwhile and benefit from the knowledge that you will make a
difference for the future. Your connections help to build and maintain
both our sense of community and the community itself.
Founders Circle
This is a wonderful and exciting time to be a member of the CAMP
Rehoboth team. The banner, announcing the new home of the CAMP Rehoboth
Community Center, is up on 37 Baltimore Avenue. The renovation has begun
and plans are in place for us to move into the new "digs" in
May.
Our progress is being supported by many of you in the community.
During the past month, we have had new people become members of the
Founders’ Circle and current members upgrade their pledges. That new
activity, along with all of the Founders’ Circle members who
faithfully meet their pledges, has resulted in a total of $820,923.77
from 352 members.
The CAMP Rehoboth Community Center Founders’ Circle numbers are a
concrete indicator of the support we have for both the Community Center
and our greater community. If you are not yet a member of the Founders’
Circle and would like to join, please fill out the form found here or
stop by CAMP Rehoboth to sign up. While June 2005 will mark the final
year that membership in the Founders’ Circle will be open, you will
still have five years from the date you sign up to complete your pledge.
We still have a way to go to reach our goal. Memberships are
investments in our community, plus it’s a great tax deduction. CAMP
Rehoboth is a 501(c)(3) organization and contributions are tax
deductible to the fullest extent of the law. There are many membership
levels to choose from that meet almost any budget. When you pledge, you
become part of our community’s effort to make a difference. Your name
or the name of your loved one will be inscribed in our official Founders’
Circle records and on our Wall of Founders. Depending on your level,
your name will be on an actual part of the Community Center (a brick, a
tile, a door or a room). Plus, members receive great recognition gifts
and invitation(s) to the annual Founders’ Circle Black & White
Beach Ball, a popular event that is not to be missed.
Remember, you made the choice to live here. Now you have the
opportunity to shape your future and that of your community. We look
forward to seeing you in our new CAMP Rehoboth Community Center.
