The success of the CAMP
Rehoboth Community Center Project and its Founders’ Circle Capital
Campaign does not rest with any one person. Instead, our continued
success will be due to a great desire on the part of many people to
create a home for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people and
for the community-at-large. We envision a full-service and vibrant
community center full of people who are connecting with others with a
sense of celebration, pride and purpose.
We have made great
strides toward that vision. The generosity of our Founders’ Circle
members made it possible to purchase the property in 2002 that is now
our home at 39 Baltimore Avenue. A significant number of people visit
our Community Center each day. Some come to visit while others stop in
for information or to volunteer. Many individuals and groups reserve
meeting space during each week to socialize, solve community problems or
to create events and happenings for our community. It comes as no
surprise that our biggest challenge is space. We need to meet our goal
of raising $1,000,000 through our Founders’ Circle Capital Campaign in
order to renovate and develop adequate space to meet our community’s
need for a full-service community center.
Unique fundraising
events have always been an important part of life at CAMP Rehoboth. The
Founders’ Circle Black and White Beach Ball is no exception. It was
created as a fundraising event and as a way to honor and salute the
members of the Founders’ Circle who have given generously at all
levels to make the Community Center dream a reality. This event has a
very positive impact on both fundraising and on building a sense of
community.
The Founders’ Circle
is committed to honoring all members by permanently inscribing their
names, or the names of a loved one, as charter members. Names will be
inscribed in the official Founders’ Circle records, and depending on
the membership level, names will also be inscribed on a brick, a tile, a
door or a room. For those of you who join at the highest level of
“Founder,” we will insure that all of your names, or the names of
loved ones, receive the highest level of recognition. As the Community
Center design begins to unfold, our architect will explore the most
meaningful way to achieve such recognition. And should the design entail
an open space environment or only a limited number of rooms, then an
inspiring and artistic concept will be created that dramatically honors
all those who have been so generous to contribute at the highest level
of “Founder.”
