Connect
If you needed an example of a community coming together, you didn’t
have to look any further than the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center on
April 15th and 16th. The Convention Center was the site of the 5th
Annual CAMP Rehoboth Women’s Weekend. It was awesome! Margie Adam and
Kate Clinton gave wonderful performances. The presenters, keynote
speaker, Chrissy Gephardt and Governor Minner exceeded expectations—all
the evaluation forms said so. I agree but save my highest praise for all
the "behind the scenes" people that made the weekend happen. I’m
not going to try to name everyone that played a part in the weekend—fear
of forgetting someone runs high. What I do want to describe is all the
pieces of the puzzle that formed the beautiful picture that was Women’s
Weekend. In no particular order, there were the Women’s Weekend
Committee, ELBoW Productions for the entertainment, presenters, vendors,
sponsors, suppliers, CAMP staff, and volunteers. The volunteers, men and
women, ran errands, served refreshments, welcomed attendees, collected
tickets, prepared folders, answered phones, ran credit cards and set up
and took down chairs and tables, over and over again. What the public
saw was a comfortable, well run and well organized event and an
opportunity to connect with old friends and meet new people.
When you stop to think about it, perhaps all of the CAMP Rehoboth
events offer the same thing in different settings. It is that chance to
connect. Friends and acquaintances that care about us and are happy to
see us really make the event special. No, I’m not forgetting the food,
drink, entertainment, dancing, auction items, sound, lighting and
decorations. CAMP is the champ when it comes to those items. But, I
still contend that if you could not connect with friends and
acquaintances, you would feel as if you had been dropped into a
beautiful setting with no role to play.
All of us have a role to play in the Rehoboth Beach community.
Choosing to accept the role and how well we play it will make the
difference in all of our futures and the future of the community itself.
Founders’ Circle
During the past few months, the Founders’ Circle has received quite
a few donations in honor of folks in our community. I love learning
about these great people who have found CAMP Rehoboth worthy of sharing
the important moments in their lives. Thank you to those who designated
CAMP and those who made the contributions.
We also offer thanks to those of you who have become recent members
of the Founders’ Circle, upgraded your original pledge, or paid your
pledge payment. Our current totals stand at 360 members pledging
$825,278.77 with $562,852.92 paid. The CAMP Rehoboth Community Center
Founders’ Circle numbers indicate the support we have for both the
Community Center and our greater community.
If you are not yet a member of the Founders’ Circle, please
consider joining. It’s an investment in our community, plus it’s a
great tax deduction. CAMP Rehoboth is a 501(c)(3) organization and
contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. When
you pledge, you become part of our community’s effort to make a
difference. Plus, members receive great recognition gifts and
invitation(s) to the annual Founders’ Circle Black & White Beach
Ball (another great CAMP event).
