Bear Hugs for Babies Outreach
Bear Hugs for Babies, a local nonrofit group staffed by volunteers,
assembles and delivers baskets of essential items to newborns in need.
These cheery baskets, filled with approximately $70 worth of donated
items, can include diapers, blankets, bibs, clothes, wipes, and bottles.
Within hours after a referral is made by a case worker, shelter or
hospital, someone from the Bear Hugs group drops off a basket to help the
family until other resources can be found.
Donations are urgently needed, as Bear Hugs has already helped three
times more babies than they had at this same time last year.
To find out more about Bear Hugs for Babies, or to make a donation, call
302-226-5523 or visit www.bearhugsforbabies.org.

West Rehoboth Seeks Sponsors
Organizers of West Rehoboth’s summer youth program are seeking
sponsors to help fund this year’s effort.

program," said Brenda Kelley, program director. "The program will
provide seven activity-filled weeks for approximately 45 underprivileged
students from kindergarten through middle school, ages five through 15.

Governor Minner Hosts Meals on Wheels Benefit
On Tuesday May 17th, Governor Ruth Ann Minner hosted a dinner at the
Governor’s mansion to support Meals on Wheels Delaware. Gov. Minner
donated the evening last fall as part of a charity auction during the
"Brunch with the Masters Event" in Dewey Beach. Café Zeus of
Rehoboth Beach was invited to cater the event.
"Each year the Governor has donated an evening to support Meals on
Wheels and we couldn’t be happier that she has" said James Thornton,
Executive Director, Meals On Wheels Delaware
"Further we are so glad that Café Zeus so graciously donated their
services for the evening."
"I always enjoy this evening in that it allows me to promote two
issues of great importance, giving a helping hand to the elderly and
promoting independently owned businesses in Delaware" said Governor
Minner. "Every year Meals on Wheels, Delaware helps thousands of people
in our state. This evening allows us to raise awareness of their work and I
am pleased that Café Zeus was willing to help us in these efforts."
"We try to do whatever we can to support charities in our
region" said John Mank, Owner of Café Zeus. "The work Meals on
Wheels performs is so important that we are happy to do anything we
can."
