If you were to ask me what an "ordinary" day is like at
CAMP Rehoboth, my first reaction would be, "What’s
ordinary?" I don’t think I’ve seen it yet! Part of the reason,
I know, is that we have been so caught up in packing, moving, unpacking
and organizing. Those activities would not be part of our ordinary
"day at the office" routine. Another part of the reason is
that the volunteers that help us at CAMP take us away from a
commonplace, run-of-the-mill day. They bring us their stories, their
baked goods and their garden vegetables. AND they bring us joy! They
connect with us and become part of our lives.
Actually, as hard as the CAMP staff works, we could not accomplish
all that the community has come to expect without volunteers. During
these past few weeks, as we prepared to move from 39 to 37 Baltimore
Avenue, our volunteers were there. They helped us pack, move boxes,
landscape, run an auction, sweep, vacuum, run errands, mail Letters,
find supplies, do carpentry, run the Rehoboth Beach Library book sale,
and do two different two thousand piece mailings. They took time out of
their routines and the whole community is better for their efforts. Not
only did their efforts help in a concrete way but also the greater
community’s perception of CAMP Rehoboth is enhanced.
Founders’ Circle
I mentioned two mailings that CAMP sent out during the past two
weeks. One was to the Black and White Beach Ball, which is a "sell
out." The second was to our general mailing list asking that those
members of our community get involved as contributors to the Founders’
Circle. (This is the last year to be listed as a member but you can
still take five years to complete your pledge.) The response has been
heart-warming! We received everything from $500 pledges to be paid at
$10 a month to $15,000 pledges. We are all so grateful that each of the
contributors has made a gift that is significant for them. You know, as
well as I do, that if you make a significant donation to a cause in
which you believe, you feel connected, a part of the real substance and
mission of the organization.
Our sincere thanks to those of you who have become recent members of
the Founders’ Circle, upgraded your original pledge, or paid your
pledge payment. Our current totals stand at 387 members pledging
$870,585.77 with $588,199.92 paid.
It’s not too late! Use the form here and join us. It’s an
investment in our community, plus a great tax deduction. CAMP Rehoboth
is a 501(c)(3) organization and contributions are tax deductible to the
fullest extent of the law. I guarantee you’ll become a part of a truly
extraordinary experience. The CAMP Rehoboth Community Center is a
reality and will grow with your support.
