Edwin T. “Tommy” MacDonald, 56,
died suddenly at his home in Key West on June 12th.
A 10 year resident of Key West, Tom’s greatest
pleasures were taking long walks around the island
and spending hours at his favorite watering hole, Bourbon Street Pub.
Tom’s career in Key West included positions with
Hospice VNA, First American Title Company, The Key West Chamber of
Commerce, and his final post as Executive Assistant to the Executive
Director of the Mel Fisher Maritime Heritage Society.
Besides close friends in Key West (John Schafer,
Roland Chambers, Charlie Allen and others), Tom leaves many friends in
Delaware. He grew up in Claymont, Delaware and moved to Rehoboth Beach
in the early 1970’s.
Tom worked in many capacities in the Rehoboth
area, including office management and furniture retail. He loved to
dance into the wee hours or just sit and talk at the Boathouse. The
Renegade was a home away from home as well as a sometime employer, and
the Blue Moon was mandatory on Sunday afternoon.
At Tom’s request there was no service. A
gathering of friends to remember Tom will be held in Key West in July.
