Delaware Stonewall Democrats announced that it will be honoring
courageous Americans who have made a difference in the life of GLBT persons
at its fourth annual Summer reception to be held at the home of Rehoboth
Beach physician and recent Tony Award winning Producer, Dr. James D’Orta,
123 Silver Lake Dr., Saturday, Aug. 11 between 5:30 and 7:30 PM.
Delaware Stonewall, which represents the interests of the GLBT Democrats,
will be honoring NY State Assemblyman Daniel O’Donnell, DE State Senator
Margaret Rose Henry, Rick Stafford, Chairman of the GLBT Caucus of the
Democratic National Committee, and members of the Young Democrats of
America.
"We are pleased to honor individuals who have been upfront in
supporting equal rights for all individuals", said Peter Schott,
President of the Delaware Stonewall Democratic Club. "Each one of our
honorees has been willing to take a leadership position at different levels,
whether National or local or a leader of our youth, and each has helped to
make a tremendous stride towards our goal of equality for all."
New York Assemblyman Daniel O’Donnell, brother of Rosie O’Donnell,
has been a leader in getting New York to support the rights of the GLBT
Community. Rick Stafford, a former Chairman of the Minnesota Democratic
Party, currently serves on the Democratic National Committee and has made
sure the Democratic Party continues its support of equality. He is now the
spokesperson for the Party’s GLBT community.
Margaret Rose Henry, Delaware State Senator representing Wilmington has
always been willing to introduce and support legislation beneficial to the
GLBT community and we honor her for recognizing that we must be equal
partners in moving Delaware forward. We will also honor the Young Democrats
of America for their work in energizing the next generation of political
activists who will work to promote equal rights for all.
Funds raised at this event will be used to help ensure that we can elect
and re-elect Democrats who are willing to stand up and be counted and work
for interests of the GLBT community.

Always...Patsy Cline presented by Henlopen Theater Project
Patsy is based on the true story of Cline’s life and her friendship
with a devoted fan from Houston, Louise Seger. After a chance meeting in
Houston, the two women became fast friends and pen pals. Letters to Louise
were signed, "Love Always, Patsy Cline," and those letters were
the inspiration for the show. Written by Ted Swindley, the show has
down-home country humor, true emotion and, of course, Patsy’s
unforgettable music. The story is told through the eyes of her friend as
Patsy, backed by musicians onstage, sings her way through 27 of her greatest
hits. In six short years, Patsy Cline went from an unknown singer to a music
legend and years after her death, Cline’s music and style continue to
enthrall millions of fans, both new and the faithful who grew up with her.
Her contribution to the world of music cannot be overstated, and she has
influenced many of today’s country and pop singers. The show will be
traveling to Delaware from Venice Little Theatre (VLT) in Venice Beach,
Florida. In 2006, HTP initiated a relationship with VLT.
Always…Patsy Cline will be performed at the Cape Henlopen High School
Little Theater on Friday and Saturday, August 10th and 11th and at the
Rehoboth Beach Convention Center on Monday and Tuesday, August 13th and
14th.
Complementing the atmosphere of the show, cabaret table seating will be
available at the Convention Center as well as general seating. General
seating for all performances is $35. Premium seating at the Little Theatre
and cabaret table seating at the Rehoboth Convention Center is $55. Premium
and cabaret tickets include an invitation to the cast party after the
Tuesday performance. A cash bar service will be available at the convention
center. Group discounts are available for general seating only.
All performances are at 8 p.m. For tickets, call Henlopen Theater
Project, 302-226-4103.
