CAMP Connect

Connect

"This was the best dance I’ve ever been to and I go to a lot of different places." "The Retro Ball DJ was awesome! Does he have a CD?" (Sorry, no.) "This is the greatest Love yet and I’ve been coming for a lot of years!" "CAMP has the best staff people on the planet!"—Comments from various people attending Love 2006.

If you are thinking this is shameless self-promotion, please give me a minute to explain myself. CAMP Rehoboth does have a dedicated staff but it would not be possible to do any of our major parties and events without our volunteers and supporters. Really! Each event starting with the CAMP Rehoboth Women’s Weekend in April through to the Starburst Gayla on New Year’s Eve is a tribute to this community connecting with each other. There are committees that, over a number of months, create and execute the event plans ranging from developing a theme and booking entertainment to ordering tickets and finding decorations. Sponsors provide the much needed funding and contribute

merchandise that lets the fun happen. CAMP volunteers do everything from labeling and stamping the mailings that announce our events to sweeping up the floor when the events are finished and so very much in between.

CAMP Rehoboth’s events are a success, indeed CAMP Rehoboth is a success, in direct proportion to the community’s involvement. Pay attention to the next poster or ad you see for one of CAMP Rehoboth’s events. Many of these businesses and individuals sponsor multiple events throughout the year. They really appreciate it when you say thank you for supporting a community event. The same is true for the volunteers that help staff the many functions at an event or do the advance work and daily support.

I don’t want you to think that community involvement is one-sided, with CAMP Rehoboth always on the receiving end. We recognize that we need to support the services that assist all of the community. That’s why we support organizations like Meals on Wheels with their Beach Brunch, the YMCA’s Block Party, and Beebe Medical Center’s Thanksgiving Ball, to name a few. Their success helps all of the community. Plus, you get to connect with your friends while you are attending the event. In the end, supporting community non-profit benefits makes our world a better place.

Founders’ Circle

There are only seven weeks left for you to join the Founders’ Circle Capital Campaign. To date, $1,119,623.60 has been pledged with $851,829.30 of those pledges being fulfilled. As always, the CAMP Rehoboth board of directors offers thanks to all who have become recent members of the Founders’ Circle, upgraded their original pledge, or made a pledge payment.

More than 800 of your friends and neighbors have become members. Please consider joining them. Think about giving an honorary membership in the Founders’ Circle to a family member or friend. Host a summer party and ask for a donation to be made to CAMP Rehoboth in lieu of a host/hostess gift. You will be making an investment in our community, plus it’s a great tax deduction. CAMP Rehoboth is a 501(c)(3) organization and contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

We hope to see you at the next event supporting our community. We’re sure you’ll see some of your friends and neighbors there.
