Don’t Miss the Vagina Monologues
The Vagina Monologues are coming back to Rehoboth August 12 and 13.
The show returns to Rehoboth with the same performers, for three shows
only at the top of the Henlopen Hotel, with a portion of the proceeds going
to the CAMP Rehoboth Founder’s Circle.
The Friday, Aug. 12 performance is sold-out. Limited tickets are still
available for the Saturday, Aug. 13 matinee at 4 p.m. and the evening
performance at 8 p.m., but don’t wait too long. The three actresses, Jane
Bruns, Stacey Fearheiley and Eloise Ullman, will be back for an evening of
laughter and tears in Eve Ensler’s award winning play.
Even if you have seen another production of the show, you should check
out what these three actresses do with the script. "It would be
impossible to say which woman stole the show," says Cape Gazette
columnist Bridin Reynolds. "For two hours they made magic out of this
play…."
The Vagina Monologues grew out of interviews the author had with more
than three hundred women ages six to seventy-six. The monologues are by
turns inspiring, hilarious, moving and thought-provoking. The play has
played to sold out houses all over the world.
Tickets are limited, as the show is being presented in the intimate
setting of a Henlopen Hotel banquet room. Tickets are $20 each, Call CAMP
Rehoboth at 227-5620 for reservations.
Along with the performances, Salero Restaurant has planned a pre-show
dinner special. Call Salero directly at 227-8630 if you would like to have
reservations for the special pre-show dinner.
Gather your friends, family members (including the men!), who missed the
show last winter, but heard so much about it, and plan to see The Vagina
Monologues.
Tickets are available by calling CAMP Rehoboth at 302-227-5620.
NYC Artist Kurt Walters at Nassau Vineyards
Nassau Valley Vineyard is proud to present the paintings of New York City
artist Kurt Walters. The show, entitled Unfinished Business, will hang from
August 5-30.
Kurt continues the
classical painting tradition, not often seen today: a modern portrait
painter. He received formal training at the California College of Arts and
Crafts in Oakland.
While he often paints for private clients, his public works have received
National attention. His paintings have appeared in national publications
including Men’s Health, OUT, and Luxe. In 2001 he painted the label for
the 1999 vintage of Duetto wine from Wente Brothers Winery in California to
strong acclaim. In 2004 he was commissioned to create 36 illustrations for
Chief Justice, a book on Supreme Court justice John Marshall, which will be
released by Mondo Publishing in 2006.
He was exhibited in the group show Schock und Schöpfung in Munich
Germany. His work was also featured in solo shows at Stadt Café Freising
and Café am Wiener Platz in Munich. He has done installations at both The
Roxy and The Sound Factory in New York City and has shown in exhibition in
Buffalo and Provincetown, Massachusetts.
A meet the artist reception will be held on Saturday, August 6th from 5-8
p.m. The public is invited to attend.
Nassau Valley Vineyards is located six miles
north of Rehoboth Beach just outside historic Lewes at 32165 Winery Way in
Nassau Commons. Call 302-645-9463 for information or directions.
Gay Marine Porn Star at Lambda Rising
Rich Merritt will
discuss his autobiography, Secrets of a Gay Marine Porn Star during an
appearance at Lambda Rising Bookstore Sunday, August 14, at 2:30 p.m.
Merritt was a boy who never listened to pop music, never cursed, and didn’t
have his first drink until he was 18. Then he exploded into a life of drugs,
alcohol, promiscuity, prostitution, and pornography as a "gay Marine
porn star." His autobiography is a triumphant story of self-forgiveness
and identity, of a man who refused to allow himself to be defined by the
standards or anyone else—gay or straight.
All author appearances at Lambda Rising are free and open to the public.
The bookstore is located at 39 Baltimore Ave in Rehoboth. For further
information, call 302-227-6969.
