ART Around

Rodney Cook Artwork at the Moon

Continuing an eight year tradition, Rodney Cook‘s new watercolors will open at the Blue Moon on July 30. The show, titled The Moon and the Beach features watercolors of Rehoboth.

"It’s a show about Rehoboth Beach," Rod says of his new paintings, which are instantly recognizable to area visitors and residents. The show captures the essence of Rehoboth Beach in vibrant colors and familiar landmarks like the Dolle’s sign, the Blue Moon, La La Land, and the boardwalk and beach.

Rodney’s Paintings and prints were featured in this year’s Heart of the Community art auction at the Black and White Beach Ball and the Follies’ auction, and will also be a part of the Sundance 2004 auction on Labor Day weekend.

The opening reception for The Moon and the Beach will be held on Saturday, July 31 from 2-4 p.m. at the Blue Moon Restaurant, 39 Baltimore Avenue in Rehoboth Beach.

The Dog Days of Summer

As Pamela Montague of Lightspun Gallery in Gingerbread Square tells us...our dogs are a constant reminder that life is really good at the beach.

Along those lines, she will be releasing new photographs of her dog, Stella, at a reception on August 1. Wendy Carr of Metro Gallery, also in Gingerbread Square, will be showcasing her popular dog bowls and accessories. Dave Koster of Photos In The Sand will be exhibiting 6 dog portraits, 2 of which were published in the June edition of Delaware Beach Life. A portion of sales from the photographs on exhibit will benefit the Sussex County SPCA.

Lightspun Gallery, 163 Rehoboth Ave, welcomes all dog lovers and friendly dogs to the opening reception on Sunday August 1, from 5-8 p.m. Pamela can be reached at 302-236-6467.
