FABULOUS FOLLIES

The 1st annual CAMP Rehoboth Follies on July 27th raised more than $35,000 for CAMP Rehoboth. The 3-hour stage show, which sold out two days in advance, was composed of nine amateur musical skits and various auction items. A panel of five judged the skits. Each troupe was awarded points in various categories including originality, execution, and overall entertainment value. Gold, silver, and bronze Barbie dolls were presented to the top three. Third place went to the all-gal “Power Surges of Scarborough Flair” (the troupe that also received the grandest of standing ovations). Second place was awarded to the Drag Volleyball posse for their amazing “America the Fabulous” number. And nabbing first place—who else—that tireless troupe from 88 Sussex, the Sexy Sussex Swingers, led by clever Cliff Lassahn. Thanks to the success of this year’s event, CAMP Rehoboth has confirmed that the Follies will return in 2003.

HOUSE PARTIES

August is house party season so get out your old costumes and accessories… they might come in handy for some of this month’s upcoming themed events. We’ve already been treated to 114 Hickman’s awesome “ABBAsolut” party and 1 Robinson’s stellar “Sunset” party. But those were just the beginning. Coming up we have John Klenert’s 8th annual “Squirt Gun Party” at 3 Country Club on Saturday, August 10th from 5-8 p.m., 312 Bayard’s “International Male” party on the 17th from 5-8 p.m., and Tony Sowers’ “Egyptian Gods: Pleasure Among the Pyramids” at 1015 Fifth Street also on the 17th from 9 p.m.–midnight. Look for invitations for these and more parties being passed out on Poodle Beach (invitations are not required to attend). Happy house partying!
