As numbers of infections are rising among gay men, it is good to see that you guys are out there spreading the word about safer sex (especially in a resort area!). I got some great goodies from the guys who were passing stuff out this weekend. Thanks again for the CAMPsafe program, you guys are doing an awesome job!

I would like to thank the voters for your support, kind words, and votes in the recent Rehoboth Beach Board of Commissioners election. It was wonderful to see so many friendly faces and I appreciate the confidence you have placed in me to represent you on the Commission.

I noticed that many people discovered they were not registered, although they thought they were. I urge everyone who found they were not registered to be ready for next year’s election by going to city hall and taking care of registration now. As you know, in these city elections, every vote does count.

I also want to thank those of you who wrote letters of support for my candidacy, and those who put signs in their yards and businesses. Getting the whole community involved like that is always one of my goals. I would also like to commend Don Derrickson for all his hard work and accessibility these past years. He brought a lot to the Commission. I look forward to working with Henry DeWitt and tackling many issues in the coming years. But mostly, I look forward to continuing working hard for the property owners, residents and merchants in downtown Rehoboth Beach.

We will face many challenges in the coming months and years and I look forward to representing you in keeping our town thriving and looking great. And please know that I am always available for citizen input and inquiries. Thanks again to those of you who continue to have confidence in me and helped elect me to another term as a City Commissioner.

I want to take this opportunity to thank all of my supporters who were so generous with their time and money to make my campaign a success.

Their assistance made it possible to refine my message and get it to virtually all of the voters. They provided the mundane assistance in stuffing envelopes and the many great ideas of how to publicize the issues and my ideas.

Without their assistance, I am sure that the election would have had a different outcome.

Please let everyone know that the Ladies Tea Dances are coming back to Rehoboth Beach for Labor Day weekend. Both tea dances (Saturday and Sunday) will be at AM Nightclub (formerly Ames), located in the Ames Shopping Center on Highway One. The dances will not be held in Dewey Beach as had been previously advertised. You spoke and we listened. After hearing your tales of frustration with traffic and lack of parking during the July 4th weekend in Dewey Beach, we made the decision to move to the new Rehoboth location.

I would like to thank the management of the Baycenter in Dewey Beach for their support and appreciate their hard work and involvement in our endeavors over Memorial Day Weekend and July 4th Weekend, and I hope everyone will continue to support Ruddertowne, the Starboard, and other Dewey Beach endeavors.

The Labor Day Ladies Tea Dances (for women and their friends) will be held Saturday, August 30 and Sunday, August 31 at AM. The doors will open at 5 p.m. both evenings with a $10 cover charge until 10 p.m. The admission to the tea dance will allow you to dance all night.

Music will be provided by DJ Amy Justus and myself, with special guest performers on Saturday. There will be specials and giveaways throughout the evening.

The Delaware HIV Consortium is seeking a professional to oversee rental assistance program for people living with HIV/AIDS. Duties include preparing various funding proposals, monitoring spend-down of dollars, ensuring program procedures meet governmental requirements, and supervising staff with daily operations.

Applicant must have excellent oral and written communication skills, be able to work with diverse populations and community groups, and be comfortable managing multiple tasks. Minimum of Bachelor’s degree required. Microsoft Office computer skills are necessary.

Position is based in Wilmington, but some travel throughout Delaware is required.
