SUNDANCE TICKETS
The 15th annual Sundance Celebration is this Labor Day weekend.
Tickets are $60 for both events (the auction and the dance), or $40 for
one event. Buy your tickets in advance online at www.SundanceBenefit.com
or at the CAMP Rehoboth office (39 Baltimore Avenue, 302-227-5620). The
Auction is Saturday, August 31 from 7-10 p.m. The Dance is Sunday,
September 1 from 8 p.m.-2 a.m. Both events are being held at the
Rehoboth Beach Convention Center.
DJ’s & DANCING
If you like to shake it on the dance floor, the final weeks of
summer are filled with quality DJs and dance events. On August 23-25,
Julian Marsh is spinning at Cloud 9. On Saturday, August 24, DJ Abel is
returning for the Renegade’s Island Rituals party. On Labor Day
weekend, look for guest DJs such as David Knapp on Saturday, August 31
at the Renegade, Darryl Strickland at Cloud 9 all weekend long and Mark
Thomas spinning at Sundance. And don’t forget Tommy Walton and Rob
Harris at Yum Yum’s Sunday Tea Dance from 5-8 p.m. AND, there’s a DJ
weeknights at Blue Moon!
WIGS, WIGS, WIGS
We’ve been dressing up in drag all summer at parties like 312
Bayard’s “Queens of the Screen” and 1015 5th Street’s
“Egyptian Gods,” and all that time the best place to buy wigs was
right under our powder-puffed noses. Take note: Look of Hair Salon (627
Rehoboth Avenue, across from Double L) has a massive collection of wigs
for just about any drag persona you can think of. It may be the end of
summer, but it’s never too late to start preparing for next year. Stop
in and take a look before you close up your beach house. For more
information, call 302-226-9094 and ask for Bobbi Berry.
TOSCA’S KISS IS #1
Remember the book Tosca’s Kiss by Tyler Colby? You know, the
murder mystery that takes place in Rehoboth Beach, the one you wrote off
as pure beach trash? Well, apparently, it recently grabbed the number
one spot on Amazon.com for books “uniquely popular in Washington,
D.C.” It’s no surprise, really. How could anyone resist drawing
parallels between the book’s party-throwin’ Pete Sweet and real-life
social queen, Chris Riss?
HOSTAGE BARBIE!
Yes—you too can have your very own Hostage Barbie Doll. It’s
simple: Put on a skit at the CAMP Rehoboth Follies… don’t win 1st,
2nd, or 3rd place… then go to the 1st place winner’s party (in this
case, 88 Sussex’s E! True Hollywood Story) and KIDNAP the golden
Barbie award from the mantle! It’s that easy. Your next step is to
send a ransom note to the CAMP Rehoboth office in hopes of being written
up in Letters (namely NEWS & NOTES), to garner all the publicity you
didn’t get when you lost 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place at the Follies.
Whoever you are, you’re a marketing genius. We want you on the LOVE
committee for 2003! And please, dear Kidnapper, bring Barbie back alive
and in one piece by Labor Day.
www.BeachHouseNetwork.com
When making arrangements to buy or sell shares in a beach house next
summer, remember BeachHouseNetwork.com is still up and running. You can
even post your rental property. In fact, there are a few properties (24
Josephine and 6 George Street) that are already accepting rental
applications for next summer. Next to the annual Beach House Rush Party
held the first weekend in February, www.BeachHouseNetwork.com
is the next best way to ensure your spot in the sun for 2003!
Get
on the NEWS & NOTES e-mail distribution list to receive Rehoboth
information all winter long! Simply send an e-mail with your first and
last name to NewsNotes@aol.com.
