Bingo-A-Go-Go returns to the beach for the seventh year with an event on Saturday, August 25th at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center. This will be the last Bingo-A-Go-Go for the season at Rehoboth.

Bingo-A-Go-Go is a fundraising benefit for AIDS Delaware, Delaware Pride, Rainbow Chorale of Delaware, and the Metropolitan Community Church of Rehoboth. The theme for this event is "Summer Love" (the theme from Grease) and will have 15 games and many, many prizes and will feature the Bingo Lovely Ladies.

Bingo-A-Go-Go allows participants to have fun while supporting services that benefit the community. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes relating to the theme.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the first game will be called at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance and can be purchased at the AIDS Delaware office or from any member of Delaware Pride, at MCC Rehoboth, at CAMP Rehoboth at 37 Baltimore Avenue, The Pelican Loft at 49 Baltimore Avenue and at Partners Bistro, 404 Rehoboth Avenue.

Tickets will be $15 at the door. It is strongly suggested that you buy tickets in advance. The event is typically sold out.

Southern Delaware Choral Society to Begin Messiah Rehearsals

The Southern Delaware Choral Society, under the direction of John Ranney, will begin rehearsals for Handel’s Messiah. Rehearsals begin Tuesday, September 4, 7-9 p.m., at the Georgetown Presbyterian Church on North Bedford Street in Georgetown. Singers are advised to arrive early to be issued music and to sign in. Auditions are not required but a minimal ability to read music is desirable.

The December 8 performance is a joint presentation of the Choral Society and the Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Maestro Julien Benichou, and will feature four guest soloists. For further information, call Clem Edgar at 539-9656 or log on to sdchoralsociety.org.

Musical Recital at Epworth Church

Christopher Berg, countertenor, and Georgiana Ibach, organist, will perform an evening recital at Epworth United Methodist Church, 20 Baltimore Ave., featuring a variety of songs—from opera arias and art songs to sacred and spiritual favorites—on Sunday, August 26 at 7 p.m. Enjoy compositions by Handel, Schubert, Faure, Saint-Saens, and Bach-Gounod.

A suggested donation of $10 per person will benefit the building fund for Epworth’s new home on Holland-Glade Road at Highway One in Rehoboth Beach.

Sales from Art Benefit CAMP

CAMP Rehoboth Executive Director Steve Elkins is presented a check for $2,400 for the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center Building Fund by artist Ward Ellinger and Peninsula Gallery co-owner Tony Boyd-Heron. The funds were the result of a generous donation of 20% of the sales at Ward’s recent one-man show at the gallery.

CAMP Launches New Fund Drive

At the recent groundbreaking for construction of Phase Two of the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center, plans were introduced for the GEM Club, a sustaining campaign designed to help meet the building and maintenance requirements of the Community Center. The GEM (Give Every Month) Club requires a pledge of $100 per month. In addition, the CAMP Wish List is being published offering ways to underwrite specific items in the new building. Groundbreaking Smiles All Around

More than 150 persons gathered in the CAMP Rehoboth Courtyard on Aug. 17 at the ceremonial groundbreaking for Phase Two of the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center.

Pictured are some of the members of the CAMP Board of Directors along with Rehoboth Beach Mayor Sam Cooper, Delaware State Representative Pete Schwartzkopf, and project architect Bob Hotes of RMJM Hillier Architects.

Construction on the project is scheduled to begin in mid-September.
