The Episcopal Parish of All Saints' Church and St. George's Chapel are
raising money for a project in Central America with the objectives of
abating extreme poverty and hunger, along with combating diseases.
Episcopal Relief and Development is partnering with the United Nations
(including the United States) to accomplish this goal of securing clean
and uncontaminated water resources for small communities. Because this is
a low-technology, self-help project—using local labor and materials—the
costs are low. For example a single well will only cost $1,874.21 and a
latrine $165.55.
As part of our fund-raising effort we are having a raffle, to which
several local businesses and individuals have donated the following:
Barry's Gull Cottage, Delaware Inn, and Lighthouse Inn each donated a two
night stay; other items include dinner for two at Dos Locos; one week
membership and a one hour training session with Adam Howard at Body Shop
Fitness; one hour massage by Konrad Noebel; homemade beach picnic for two
by Susie and Jeff Bond; award winning chocolate cake by Dorsey Johnson,
and a basket of chocolates and goodies from Lighthouse Inn.
Tickets are one dollar each, and will be available at the Convention
Center during the All Saints' Christmas Show October 5, 6 and 7, or by
calling the Lighthouse Inn at 302-226-0407. The drawing for all prizes
will be held on October 31, 2007 and the winners will be contacted by
phone. For more information, call the All Saints' Episcopal Church office
at 302-227-7202.
