September is a great time at the beach for a
number of reasons, one being the return of the Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s
Art House Theater. To celebrate, the Film Society is kicking off the
September line-up with An Inconvenient Truth through Sept. 21. Many people
in the community have been waiting to see this film so don’t miss this
opportunity.
Director Davis Guggenheim eloquently weaves the science of global
warming with Mr. Gore’s personal history and lifelong commitment to
reversing the effects of global climate change. A longtime advocate for
the environment, Gore presents a wide array of facts and information in a
thoughtful and compelling way. "Al Gore strips his presentations of
politics, laying out the facts for the audience to draw their own
conclusions in a charming, funny and engaging style, and by the end has
everyone on the edge of their seats, gripped by his haunting
message," said Guggenheim. An Inconvenient Truth is not a story of
despair but rather a rallying cry to protect the one earth we all
share.(2006, Runtime: 100 minutes, Rated: PG) For more information about
the film, visit climatecrisis.net.
Later in September the Art House Theater will feature Quinceañera
(Sept. 22–Oct. 5). Magdalena, 14, comes from a lovely yet troubled
Mexican-American family in Los Angeles. She dreams of her upcoming
Quinceañera (the dresses, the limo, and her friends) but unfortunately
becomes pregnant! She is kicked out of the house by her preacher father
and ends up living with her uncle (a lovely elderly tolerant gentleman)
and her gay, estranged cousin. This unlikely trio becomes a true family,
helping each other through challenging times while learning about
tolerance, being non-judgmental, and creating community and family. (2005,
Runtime: 90 minutes, Rated R) Quinceañera won the Grand Jury prize and
the Audience Award at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival.

town from Oct. 6 -19. Wordplay focuses on the man most associated with
crossword puzzles, New York Times puzzle editor and NPR Puzzle Master Will
Shortz. Director Patrick Creadon introduces us to this passionate hero,
and the inner workings of his brilliant and often hilarious contributors.
The film also addresses the current and historical creative forces behind
crossword puzzles, revealing an entire amazing world behind its practice,
creation, and history, from the annual crossword convention in Stamford to
the breadth of individuals who enjoy it daily. (2006, Runtime: 94 minutes,
