Walk for AIDS Awareness
Join together with family and friends at the 18th Annual Delaware AIDS Walk. The 5K walk on September 26 goes through Rockford Park in Wilmington. This walk benefits AIDS Delaware.

On October 10, a second 5K walk will take place at the Silver Lake Recreation Area in Dover. This walk is wheelchair-, stroller-, and pet-friendly, and benefits the HIV Services of Kent/Sussex Counseling.

Pop Artist Exhibits in Lewes
The new works of Jeff Schaller will be on exhibit at Fish On Seafood Grill through October 1. Shaller is presenting paintings in his typical encaustic medium. Encaustic is a beeswax-based paint mixed with pigment and kept molten while painting.

Lesbian Health Conference
A conference on lesbian health issues will be held on September 30 in Stratford, New Jersey. The conference, which organizers plan to make an annual event, will explore topics including cancer awareness, chronic diseases, emotional well being, and legal issues.

There is limited seating available for this premier event which will be held from 6-9:30 p.m. at the School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, NJ. Please call 856-968-7323 to register. A complimentary dinner will be served.

Greyhounds In Art
The Greyhounds in Art exhibition and sale will be open to the public October 8-10. Housed in the Sunnyside Restaurant in the Ruddertowne Complex, the artwork includes pen and ink, watercolor, oil, acrylic, sculpture, and photography. Admission to the show is free; all proceeds benefit Morris Animal Foundation.

An Artist’s reception is scheduled for October 9 at 6:30 p.m. There will be a raffle, as well as a silent auction including donations from the 12 featured artists.

It’s a Treasure Hunt at the Beach!
Stop by the AmericInn on September 18, and dig through the treasures at the Rehoboth Roundup Garage Sale. The sale begins at 6 a.m. and closes at noon, so come early to get the best bargains!

Donations will be accepted the day of the event, just bring the items you would like to contribute with you to the sale. If you are unable to attend, but would like to support the event, please send a check made payable to Rehoboth Roundup to PO Box 11, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.

All proceeds will benefit the 2005 Rehoboth Roundup, which will be held February 18-20, 2005. For more information, call 302-684-5113 or 302-644-0781.

Bargains Galore!
While you are out bargain hunting at the October sidewalk sale, be sure to stop by the book sale at the Rehoboth Library. Volunteers from CAMP Rehoboth are once again teaming up with the library staff to bring you a book shopping extravaganza!

The book sale will be held from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the breezeway of the Rehoboth Beach Public Library, 226 Rehoboth Avenue. Stop by and sort through the many books, videos and CDs that have been donated for the sale. The prices can’t be beat!

Wilmington Avenue Block Party Set
The annual Block Party in Rehoboth Beach is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 23, from 4-8 p.m. on Wilmington Avenue. This annual event focuses on raising funds for the children of our area while providing great food, fantastic music and lots of fun for the entire family.

The designated charities this year are the Sussex Family YMCA "Campaign for Kids," the Children of Corporal Christopher Shea, and the Rehoboth Beach Main Street Children’s Programs.

Tickets are on sale at $30 for adults in advance ($40 at the event), children 12 and under are free. Food, non-alcoholic beverages, and entertainment are included in the price of admission. Call 302-296-YMCA for information on tickets.

CAMP Promotes Delaware Quitline
CAMP Rehoboth is partnering with the American Cancer Society to encourage the use of the Delaware Quitline as a free counseling and information service designed to help Delawareans 18 years of age or older kick their tobacco habit.

The service is easy to access. Call 1-866-409-1858, toll free, if you’re interested in kicking your tobacco habit.

Delaware Quitline services are provided by the American Cancer Society, the Delaware Pharmacists Society and the Lutheran Community Services through a contract with Delaware Health and Social Services, Division of Public Health and funded in part by the Delaware Health Fund. Information is available at the CAMP Rehoboth office.

Congratulations to Local Couple
Congratulations to Wes Harrington and Chris Boyd on their commitment ceremony August 20. They thank the community for its love and support.
