In Brief

Team Rehoboth Is Going To Cologne

The Team Rehoboth Beach Board of Directors recently met at the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center where it recognized outgoing President Rich Williams for his hard work in creating Team Rehoboth and organizing its representation in the 2006 Chicago Gay Games. The board then elected Bill McManus as its new President.

Following the meeting, the board announced that they will send the Team to Cologne, Germany to participate in the 2010 Gay Games. The board also stated its desire to strive to build Team Rehoboth Beach to have equal representation of male and female athletes. They are also interested in involving talented and gifted individuals from Rehoboth Beach who will be able to participate in the many cultural events held to support the Gay Games.

Team Rehoboth Beach is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to the promotion of GLBT sports in Rehoboth Beach. They  sponsor local tournaments and organize participation of the local delegation in major GLBT global multi-sport events. For more information, visit www.teamrehobothbeach.org.

Join CAMP in Kids Christmas Drive

The Holidays are coming, bringing colder temperatures along with them. This year CAMP Rehoboth is helping to outfit area children with warm clothes. These are children who have rarely had new clothes, and, if not for these gifts, might receive nothing for the Holidays.

Our goal is to provide 50 children, ranging in age from infant to 12 years old, with one complete new outfit (a top and a pair of pants). Donations of new clothes (shirts, sweatshirts, pants, sweatpants) can be dropped off at the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center, 37 Baltimore Ave. where we will wrap and deliver them in time for Christmas.

If you have questions or would like more information, call Kathy or Beth at CAMP Rehoboth, 302-227-5620. Please help us do what we can to keep these kids warm.

Play CSI in the Romanov Mystery

How was the Romanov mystery solved through the use of modern DNA technology? The Wooden Indian, 25 Baltimore Ave., is sponsoring a lecture on the Romanov family fate as part of its Faberge Trunk show the weekend of Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.

Dr. Zoran M. Budimlija, MD, PhD, a forensic pathologist and DNA expert, will lecture on how historical mysteries are solved through DNA. Using everyday terms, he will explain how experts use modern technology to answer riddles of historical events. He will also explain how DNA used to establish the identities of Czar Nicholas and the Romanov family members, and the mystery surrounding the fate of Czar Nicholas' daughter, Anastasia. Dr Budimlija will be available for questions after the presentation.

The free lecture will be held Saturday, Dec. 1 from 10-11 a.m. at Epworth Church, 20 Baltimore Ave. To register,  call the Wooden Indian, 302-227-8331.
