Although there are many charities and organizations in
need these days (including the Epworth Building Campaign), Susan and I
decided a couple of years ago to support the Rehoboth Day Care Center
which provides day care services for those children of the "everyday
worker" in the area. Two birthdays ago, I decided that rather than
having my friends bring me birthday presents at my birthday party, I asked
each to bring a toy suitable for a child and that I would donate them to
RDCC. My boyfriends brought lots of Barbies and accessories, Easy Bake
Ovens, and my girlfriends brought Lincoln Logs and Legos! All of our
friends thought it was a great idea, and had a blast shopping for toys. I
took the toys over to Miss Tisha at the Center, and she was almost
overcome by joy.
This coming holiday season, our friends and we have
gotten together and have decided that to celebrate the holidays, we will
make a donation to RDCC rather than give each other gifts. This thrills my
heart, and I know that RDCC will be very grateful. I encourage others in
our community to consider directing donations to charitable organizations
to celebrate holidays and friendships, because in general, we are so very
blessed and the majority of our needs are met, if not exceeded. Others,
indeed, are not near as fortunate.

Thank you for your commitment to improving life for
homebound seniors in communities throughout Delaware by sponsoring the
Celebrity Chefs’ Beach Brunch. As a sponsor, CAMP Rehoboth plays a
significant role in ensuring no homebound senior in Delaware is on a
waiting list for a hot meal delivered to their home. With your help
$103,000 was raised for Meals On Wheels Delaware.
With the support of a broad representation of companies
and caring community leaders, this festive culinary event improves each
year. This year, we attracted twenty-seven chefs, sixty-five sponsors,
five beverage purveyors, over 740 ticket holders, and 104 auction donors
all coming together for a great celebration of fine food and caring. The
result of this combined effort enables us to fund over 40,000 meals plus
equipment and services that ensure the quality of the meal delivery
program. While the Brunch is a great display of culinary artistry it also
reflects a strong community caring for its elderly.
Thank you.
