First Friday Fun Nights at CAMP
Beginning January 6, 2006, CAMP Rehoboth will sponsor First Friday Fun
Nights at the Community Center, 37 Baltimore Avenue from 7:30 to 10:00 p.m.
Come alone or bring your friends.
Each month will offer a featured game in one room. The other rooms will
be available for the attendees to decide their choice of game. We will have
plenty of games, old and new, to choose from. January’s featured game will
be Pictionary.
CAMP Rehoboth will provide soft drinks, pretzels and chips for the First
Friday Fun Nights. Mark your calendar now and plan to join us each first
Friday of the month. Remember that is January 6, February 3 and March 3.
CAMP Parents and Children Dinner
December 4, 2005 is the date set for Rehoboth Beach Main Street’s
Community Unity Dinner at the Convention Center from 4 to 7 p.m. The event
is a great time and highlights the best of our community. The
all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner is provided by Nicola’s with CAMP
Rehoboth making the dessert available. The ticket price for adults is $7
with children age 6 to 11 eating for $3 while those 5 years of age and
younger get in for $1. Santa makes a stop; seasonal music is provided and
you get to visit with lots of your friends and neighbors. (Financial
assistance is available by calling CAMP Rehoboth.)
This year, we will hold a table at 5:00 p.m. for CAMP Parents and
Children so that those with young children can meet others in the community.
If you can make it, please give us a call at CAMP Rehoboth so that we can
save you space and have a holiday favor for the children attending. You can
call the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center at 302 227-5620, or e-mail Beth
Fitton at beth@camprehoboth.com.
Safe Haven Acquires Site
After two years of intensive planning and fund raising, the dream of a
state of the art animal sanctuary in Sussex County is beginning to unfold.
The Board of Directors for the sanctuary recently closed on the purchase of
nearly 14 acres.
The Sanctuary, Sussex county’s first no kill facility will rescue,
house and find loving homes for dogs and cats that would otherwise be
euthanized by county shelters. Animals that are not adopted will live out
their lives at Safe Haven.
The purchase of the property was made possible though a loan from County
Bank. The Sanctuary’s Advisory committee looked at nearly 30 sites in the
quest for the perfect locale. Situated between Georgetown and Lewes, off Rt.
9 the property is secluded yet accessible to the community and large enough
for future expansion.
Curl Up With A Good Book
Break out that 2006 calendar and circle Saturday, January 14. That way
you’ll remember to come to the "Curl Up With A Good Book" sale
at the Rehoboth Beach Library (Don’t worry, it’s indoors!)
CAMP Rehoboth is once again holding a book sale to benefit the Rehoboth
Beach Library. We will be selling used books, videos, tapes and CDs at low,
low prices—how does 50¢ to $1.00 sound?
Plan to stop by the library between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on
the 14th, say hi to your friendly neighborhood CAMP volunteers, and pick up
a few good books to read over the winter. The library is located at 226
Rehoboth Ave, diagonally across from the firehouse.
Donations to the sale are gladly accepted at CAMP Rehoboth, 37 Baltimore
Avenue so they can be sorted for the sale. For more information, call Kathy
at 302-227-5620.

Do Some Early Holiday Shopping
Have you decided what holiday gift to get that special someone in your
life? If more jewelry or something else for the house just doesn’t
"do it" for you, what about something you can both enjoy? What if
that something could also snatch you right out of those winter blues. A
cruise may be exactly the right gift. Here is our suggestion.
CAMP Rehoboth has partnered with RSVP Vacations and Coastal Cruise Club
to provide a cruise from Fort Lauderdale to the Yucatan with a stop in Key
West, just in time for Mardi Gras. The ship, Holland America’s ms
Westerdam, will depart from Fort Lauderdale on February 26 and return on
March 4, 2006. Staterooms start at $1,145 per person.
Check out this leader in gay and lesbian travel at rsvpvacations.com. You
can get a good idea of the ship, Holland America’s ms Westerdam, by going
to their website, hollandamerica.com. You won’t be disappointed in this
five-star ship. Holland America Line offers the most extensive menus at sea
plus lounges, pool, casino and spacious staterooms. By the way, this cruise
will offer ASL interpreted events.
The great news for CAMP Rehoboth is that the Founders’ Circle will
receive a total of at least $250 from RSVP and Coastal Cruise Club for each
stateroom booked exclusively through Coastal Cruise Club. If we exceed 20
staterooms booked, we will receive a $1,000 bonus from RSVP.
Think about what a great gift this will be for your partner plus you get
to enjoy it too! Give Chet Elder at Coastal Cruise Club a call at 302
537-2986. He is looking forward to working with you to be sure your
experience is simply fabulous!
Donate a Phone; Each One Helps
The Donate-A-Phone project is a partnership between the Wireless
Foundation, the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Motorola to
provide free phones to victims of domestic violence through the CALL to
PROTECT program.
Bring your old phones by CAMP Rehoboth, 37 Baltimore Ave., and we’ll
send them to Donate-A-Phone for you.
