Transition
In our last issue of Letters, I wrote about how October is a month
of change, a time of transition from the old to the new. It certainly
has been a period of evolution for me as I’ve moved from being the
part-time Founders’ Circle Director to the full-time Development
Director for CAMP Rehoboth. What does that mean? It means that I will
still be responsible for the Founders’ Circle Capital Campaign. I will
also coordinate general fundraising activities such as writing grants
and developing corporate sponsorship and business partnership programs.
I will assist with special fundraising events such as the Women’s
Conference Weekend, CAMP Follies, Founders’ Circle Black & White
Beach Ball, Sundance, etc. Community outreach is also important to
strengthen CAMP Rehoboth’s ties within our community-at-large. During
the next year, Steve Elkins, our Executive Director, and I plan to
expend a great deal of time and energy developing more mutually
beneficial relationships with other individuals and organizations.
How can you help? If you know someone who works for a foundation or
an organization that has a mission similar to CAMP Rehoboth’s and may
be interested in partnering with us in some way, please let us know who
they are or introduce them to us and we’ll take it from there. You
would be making a significant contribution by helping all of us pull
together in building a community of heart and hope.
Founders’ Circle
Due to the generosity of many in our community, the Founders’
Circle has reached another milestone! We have surpassed $600,000 on our
way to our $1,000,000 capital campaign goal. Yes, that’s right! Our
228 Founders’ Circle members have pledged $605,977 to date. They are
individuals, couples or business owners who are dedicated to ensuring
that we all live in a community of strength and solidarity.
This is the time of year in which we all begin thinking about tax
deductions and holiday gifts. Becoming a member of the Founders’
Circle is a great way to give back to the community through a
tax-deductible contribution. If you are already a member and need more
tax-deductible contributions, consider upgrading your membership to a
higher level.
Founders’ Circle memberships are also a wonderful gift (as well as
a tax deduction for you!) and include your friends and family in our
community effort. CAMP Rehoboth is a 501(c)(3) organization and
contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. You
can pay by cash, check or by credit card (American Express, MasterCard
and VISA) and according to a payment plan that suits your budget. Gifts
also may be paid in securities or other property, including real estate.
For those of you who work for companies with matching gift programs, you
may be able to pledge at a higher level by applying to those programs.
At every membership level, your name or the name of a loved one will
be inscribed in our official Founders’ Circle records, and depending
on your level, on an actual part of the Community Center (a brick, a
tile, a door or a room). You also will receive great member gift(s) and
an invitation to our annual sellout event, the Founders’ Circle Black
& White Beach Ball. It’s an event not to be missed! Become a
Founders’ Circle member today by filling out the pledge form included
in this issue. Forward the pledge form and your payment to me at the
CAMP Rehoboth office. I’ll make sure that your membership is processed
quickly so that you receive a 2003 tax letter in time for your tax
preparation. So, don’t delay! Do your part and help us continue to
transform the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center into a place that reflects
our community’s diversity and pride.
CAMP Grants
We were recently awarded a $1,000 grant from The John Bickford
Foundation. The grant will be used to help fund the renovation that is
needed to our building to provide accessibility for the
physically-challenged members of our community. Our deepest thanks to
The John Bickford Foundation for their generosity.
In future issues of Letters, there will be information on grants that
have been awarded to CAMP Rehoboth for the capital campaign, general
operating expenses or for special programs and services. If you have
information on grants that you believe may be of interest to us, please
contact me.
Community Grants
During our grant research, we find information on many types of
grants such as those for individuals. Beginning with this issue of
Letters, we will be informing you, as members of our community, about
grants that may be of interest to you personally.
