Mr. Double L Leather Raises Money for At-Risk Youth |
The current "Mr. Double L Leather," teamed up with Double L owners John Meng and Mark Fernstrom to raise extra funds for SCAC on New Year's Eve. The reigning leather man provided the New Year's eve party favors (no, not that kind of favor) to patrons in return for a donation.
"We had a great deal of fun and at the same time raised money for a very important cause," Jon said. "I am particularly concerned about the growth in the number of new AIDS cases among the 18 to 25 age group. I am directing the funds to be used to provide literature and information about teens and the risk of HIV and AIDS to counselors and teachers throughout Sussex County." "It is imperative that we focus our attention on this segment of our community and raise their awareness of how HIV and AIDS is transmitted and to always practice safe sex if they are going to engage in sexual activities," Jon said. "Rehoboth, with its party atmosphere, finds individuals drinking more than usual. This often results in their engaging in unsafe sex. What's important is for each of us to remember that sex should always be safe, sane, and consensual." |
