Tony Burns has a weakness for Preakness. He says he can't get enough of the annual horse race, but we all know it's just an excuse to host another cocktail party at 7 Lake Comegys. Nevertheless, a visit to Tony's is worth the lap around the track. This year, however, instead of placing bets on a favorite horse, bets were placed on which man at the party was hung like a horse. The race to find a winner was tight. Various men were neck-and-neck all night. Finally, after hours of horsing around, a stallion emerged in the top position. Confetti blew everywhere. Tony's townhouse will never be the same again. 37 Quillen was the place to be for Marvin Miller and David Schaefer's birthday. About 50 summer regulars celebrated over dinner, cake and cocktails, including CAMP Rehoboth's Steve Elkins and Murray Archibald, who showed up to make good on their New Year's resolution to stop working and start socializing in 2000. Also among the crowd was ex-Being Scene columnist, Dave Parham, who recently has taken up residence at 14 Quillen, Rob Crosby's new house. After spending years being 10 Terrorized, Dave hopes to find peace and serenity at his new address so that he may begin writing his highly anticipated autobiography, My Life in Pearls. Over Memorial Day weekend, party-goers shuffled between Brian Barber's dinner soiree at 302 Laurel, Peter Rosenstein's LOVE kick-off at 2801 Eagle's Landing, and Tom Shima's cocktail party at 107 Deerfield. But the weekend's main event was held at 119 Norfolk in honor of Rabbi Gary Seiden's 45th birthday. Party coordinator, 'Nikki' Nguyen, ensured the food was kosher while our friendly neighborhood log cabin doctor, Edsel Gayoso, offered to perform circumcision checks at the front door. Fans of Heinie Lund get out your autograph pads. The man who flies the friendly skies will be starring in "The Tom of Finland Fashion Review" on Saturday, June 3rd from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at The Double L Bar. Beach Essentials owner and organizer for the fashion show, David Schaefer, has an exciting line-up of fashions and men to work the runway. So work your way on over and join the fun. Urban artist, Brian Petro, opens his art show at the Blue Moon on Sunday, June 4th from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. And on Saturday, June 10th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., The Blue Moon is also host to the annual Bachelor Auction, a benefit event and kick-off for LOVE 2000. This year's bachelors are being rounded up by Cover-Girl Chris Riss, who will also emcee the auction. New bachelors include macho Miguel Cazorla, titilating Todd McKee, tasty Troy Cline, Todd "hot bod" Daves, Bill "what a thrill" Pullen, and Kevin "it's all about" Love. Don't miss DJ Bob Wolcott spinning at Cloud 9 June 2nd through June 4th. Wolcott will also spin for a Tea Dance to benefit the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center Project on Sunday, June 4th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be voluntary donations at the door, plus a raffle. On June 9th through June 11th, DJ Mark Thomas takes a turn at the tables. Thomas will also spin for the CAMPsafe Safe-Tea Dance on June 11th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. For a Cloud 9 DJ schedule or to purchase your Cloud 9 "dance card" (if you haven't already done so), see a Cloud 9 bartender. Dance cards are $45, but eliminate having to pay the cover charge at the door! Keep your eyes on 123 Silver Lake, the home of James D'Orta. The house has already booked two slots on the Party Calendar, with a possible third in the works. So far expect "The Red, White & Blue Party" on Saturday, June 24th from 9 p.m. to midnight, which will honor and raise money for The Democratic National Committee (DNC) with special guests Andrew Tobias (Author and DNC Treasurer) and Billy Bean (Former Major League Baseball Player). Next is the "Out at the Top" party on Saturday, July 8th from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. to honor people who are "out" at the top of their professions. The party is sponsored by the HRC Federal Club and Hennessy with possible special guest Mitchell Anderson (Party of Five). More details to follow. The LOVE 2000 dance benefit is just around the corner. Don't wait to buy your tickets at the last minute. They usually sell out. Tickets are $35 per person and include an open bar.
