Making Waves |

Expecting company from out of town, my first instinct was to panic at the Memorial weekend forecast... rain, cold temperatures, gusty winds, and more rain. With our usual itinerary of sunbathing, outdoor grilling, and clubbing, I thought for sure the nasty weather would put a damper on the vacation of my 5 house guests. So on Saturday, rather than basking in the non-existent hot sun all day, we explored the local shops and outlets for great sales and tax free shopping. Lita Weiss, who has a watch fetish, found a really cool DKNY design at L.A. Connection. When she realized you receive a free gift with every watch purchase, she bought an additional three to add to her existing collection of 96 watches. Amy O'Sullivan and Brooke Morris, who just celebrated one year together, were in the market for something unique to give one another as an anniversary gift. So I took them by Fun to Fine Jewelry at First Street Station where they found the most gorgeous set of black onyx and gold triangle rings. They were amazed at the wide selection of jewelry Vince Mullay carries from all over the world. Jackie Panepinto and Doreen Lande, who just tagged along for the ride, ended up maxing out their credit cards buying clothes from South Moon Under to Splash and every place in between. Getting hungry, we all decided to head over to Adriatico for an early dinner before the festivities of the evening began. Jackie and Brooke ordered the seasoned 15 oz. prime rib of beef au jus which was cooked to perfection. Amy, Doreen and I opted for the Chicken Adriatico, their signature entree of boneless chicken breast topped with mozzarella cheese, diced tomatoes, mushrooms, and simmered in a light tomato base broth. Eager for the night ahead, we were ready for the Ladies Tea Dance at The Renegade Resort with DJ Jam Foks. The rain obviously had no affect on the events enormous turnout. Jam's notorious Tea Dances have become a tradition at the Renegade every holiday weekend, followed by a second dance at The Beach House Restaurant. Rumor has it Jam may be doing regular Tea's at the Renegade all summer. Stay tuned for more details. Sunday, after a huge breakfast at the Crystal Restaurant, we just relaxed until it was time to attend the Jam Foks Tea Dance again, except this time, after closing the Beach House, we returned to the Renegade for the Glow Party and danced til dawn to the sounds of DJ Jeff Harrison. Monday morning, still being on deadline, I left my company sleeping peacefully while I returned to work on this issue. We met later on that evening at the Crab Barn Restaurant for our usual holiday ritual of the AUCE crab feast. Well, it turned out my company had a wonderful time as usual in Rehoboth Beach and I had no reason to worry. It seems rain or shine, there is never a dull moment in this small wonder of excitement. I'm sure you've heard by now that the incredible Christopher Peterson is back in town. The multi-talented female impersonator will be performing at the Renegade in the main lounge every Thursday, Friday, and Sunday at 10 p.m. for the entire summer. Call the Renegade at 227-4713 to reserve your seats for dinner and the show. Have a great weekend... and I'll see you around town. Diana Nelson, Jenn Burrichter, Heather Wilcox, Angel Pita. Amy O'Sullivan, Tricia Massella, Jackie Panepinto, and Doreen Lande at The Renegade. DJ Jame Foks, Cindy Herrera and Lita Weiss at The Beach House.
