Making Waves |
by Tricia Massella |
Steve and Murray decided to make waves and join me around town before we were about to drown in a double deadline of the Memorial Issue and Beach Book. We started out at the Iguana Grill to congratulate Frank Catagnus on his purchase of the popular southwestern restaurant in it's 7th successful season. After a couple of frozen margaritas, we headed over to the opening of Legends & Lore, owned by singer Regina AaMacha. The unique gallery, filled with an array of art, antiques, and collectibles is located behind Gingerbread Square Mall next to the post office. The 3 day reception was catered by Beautiful Foods, The Cultured Pearl, Nassau Vineyards, and Pasqualini's Bakery. After wishing Regina luck, we had a little sushi and were on our way. Next stop, Plumb Loco and the celebration of Cinco de Mayo. We were quite impressed with all the changes Patty and George have made over the winter. You'll have to check it out and see for yourself. After watching the variety of mouth watering selections coming from the kitchen, Steve asked to see a menu. With Murray's approval, he ordered a crab enchilada smothered in chipotle sauce, one of the many new items added to their selections this year. We were happy to hear that Karaoke with Shelley and Tina was returning every Wednesday at 9 p.m. Our final stop for the evening was the Grand reopening party of restaurant Espuma. Kevin Reading and his staff did an incredible job with the food, service, and entertainment provided at the affair. The complimentary buffet consisted of a sampling from their menuseafood paella, Moroccan crab cakes, baked stuffed oysters, roasted duck, and much more. After a five chocolate Napoleon for dessert, we decided to call it a night and roll back to the CAMP courtyard and get back to work. The summer season has arrived, and thanks to the support of our community and advertisers, CAMP Rehoboth is not only continuing to grow, but getting closer to making the dream of a more positive environment for all become a reality. Stay tuned and be a part of such fundraisers as the Blue Moon's Bachelor Auction Saturday, June 10 from 5 - 8 p.m., a benefit to kickoff Love 2000 on July 4th weekend. Also, watch for details about the 3rd Annual Beach House/ CAMP Rehoboth Breast Cancer Fundraiser that will be held in October during breast cancer awareness month. This fun filled event will include a silent auction, followed by a live auction to bid on your favorite dream date, weekend getaway packages, dinners from local restaurants, DJ and dancing, and more. If you're wondering who that cutie is near the "The Hidden Treasure" sign, it's Dan Slagle, owner operator of the newest B&Bs to enter the community. Nestled 8 miles out of town in a private setting, the bed and breakfast offers 6 private rooms, each decorated and designed in their own theme. Close enough to town, you have the option to shop, dine, and party or just kick back and relax with the social activities offered at the Inn.
