CAMP Rehoboth Community Center Founder's Circle Update |
by Andrea Andrus |
Joining Together for the Common Good by Andrea Andrus CAMP Rehoboth was created in 1990 and since that time has touched many lives in the Rehoboth Beach area and beyond. We not only work conscientiously to integrate our gay and lesbian community into the larger community around us, but we serve as a vibrant gay and lesbian community service organization. Through our many fundraising events, services and support groups, we make every effort to involve each member in our community in creating a home for all. We have become an important part of the community and hope that we can help each of you feel connected and safe. We believe that we can bring much needed services and support to the people in our community by continuing to grow as the community's needs grow. The population of Sussex County has increased by more than 38% over the last ten years. Gays and lesbians are a significant part of that increase. To accommodate the needs of our growing community, our dream is to expand CAMP Rehoboth into a full-service community center. The expansion will allow us to accommodate tremendous increases in both services needed and the number of people we will be able to serve. As we plan the renovations to our current location, we want to ensure that we have a space large enough to accommodate every person, group or organization that wants to be part of the CAMP Rehoboth family. Our Community Center will be a safe place for every member of our community, from the youngest to the oldest, with groups and services that benefit everyone. Becoming a full-service Community Center is a huge undertaking! Our nearly 200 Founders' Circle members, who have pledged $533,378 since mid-2001, know the amount of support that it takes to accomplish a goal of $1,000,000. We need each of you to help in any way you can to make sure that our community vision becomes an unqualified success. When you join the Founders' Circle, you are making a statement about your commitment to creating the Center and your name becomes inscribed in the official records as a Charter Member of the Founders' Circle Capital Campaign. The Charter Member list was on display at the annual Founders' Circle event in May. We will continue to update the list on a quarterly basis. In fact, our deadline for the next update to the Founders' Circle Charter Member list is August 15, 2003. The Founders' Circle list will be prominently displayed in the front window of CAMP Rehoboth and will also be included in upcoming issues of Letters as our way of recognizing all of you who are contributing to our dream. Founders' Circle memberships are available at many levels, ranging from $100 to over $15,000 and donations can be pledged for payment over five years. At every level, your name or the name of a loved one will be inscribed in our official Founders' Circle records on an actual part of the new Center. If you choose one of the higher levels, your name will be on a brick, a tile, a door or a room. Your name makes a statement about your love and commitment for your community. Ask your company about their matching gift program to help you pledge at a higher level. As an added bonus, your membership pledge is tax deductible as CAMP Rehoboth is a 501(c)(3) organization and you receive cool member gifts just to remind you how appreciative we are of your financial support. So, run, don't walk to complete the Founders' Circle pledge form and forward it to the CAMP Rehoboth office. Then stop by the CAMP office and see your name in lights! Due to the time and space needed to coordinate Sundance, we are rescheduling the Founders' Circle Open House, originally planned for August 16, until early fall. Watch for more details in a future issue of Letters. We are truly grateful to our current Founders' Circle members who are helping our community build a legacy that will make an impact for years to come. Thank you for your generosity!
