Connections
In his book, No Future Without Forgiveness, Desmond Tutu speaks of ubuntu, which is the very essence of being human. He says, "You share what you have. We belong in a bundle of life. We say, a person is a person through other persons. It is not, I think, therefore I am. It says rather, I am human because I belong. I participate. I share." Desmond Tutu is talking about the circle of life which is connection and connection is community. All of us at CAMP Rehoboth realize that we have become better people because of all of you who walk through our doors every day. Your involvement and love energizes us to work hard to provide our community with the tools to celebrate, create, educate, heal and organize. We are proud and committed to be with all of you in this bundle of life. Founders' Circle Our 289 Founders' Circle members who have pledged $739,493.00 have helped to keep our Founders' Circle Capital Campaign energized and alive. Our members realize that creating a full-service Community Center that connects people, activities and resources is a way to enable every Rehoboth Beach gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender person, as a community, to own real estate. As the generous and selfless giving continues within our community, CAMP Rehoboth finds itself with a wonderful opportunity to expand the Community Center and the scope of our efforts by purchasing the 37 Baltimore Avenue property, formerly one of our community's favorite restaurants, Our Place. Even though we moved from a one-room office to our current location a few years ago, our community's population is growing and so are the needs for programs and services and requests for more activities and events. So, it should come as no surprise that our biggest and ongoing challenge is what it has been for years...space. The acquisition of this adjacent location will allow us to more adequately plan for future growth and expansion and meet the needs of the hundreds more people who come through our doors each year. We at CAMP Rehoboth know that our Community Center expansion is also a continuing challenge to the generosity of our CAMP supporters. But, we also know that the CAMP Board of Directors and Staff and the rest of our community will rise to the challenge, will give beyond all of our wildest expectations, and will work to create a home that embraces and celebrates community spirit, diversity and empowerment. How can you join with us for the common good and achieve uncommon results? Join the Founders' Circle Capital Campaign yourself or give a gift of membership to a loved one by contacting the CAMP office to obtain the official Founders' Circle brochure and pledge form or use the pledge form included in this issue of Letters. The next steps are: Choose from 8 membership levels. Decide if you want your name on a brick, a tile, a door or even on a room. Choose from one of the several ways to make payment(s) that fits your budget. We accept cash; checks; credit cards (American Express, Mastercard and VISA); or you can give a gift of real estate or appreciated stock. You can also make the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center a beneficiary of your will or life insurance policy. If you work for a company that has a matching gift program, take advantage of that opportunity to double your contribution and give more back to your community. Complete the form and indicate how you would like your name or the name of a loved one recognized in our Founders' Circle official records. Submit your completed form to the CAMP office and we'll do the rest. Don't forget to come by for your cool Founder's Circle gift(s) as our way of saying thank you. CAMP Rehoboth is a 501(c)(3) organization and contributions are tax deductible to the full extent of the law. Remember...each and every one of you is important to the health and vitality of our community. Noble causes bring together noble individuals.
