LETTERS From CAMP Rehoboth |
SPEAK Out |
| ELBoW Productions would like to thank CAMP Rehoboth, especially Kathy, Beth, Sharon, Sal, Murray, and Steve for their continued support and encouragement for ELBoW's Second Annual Production. We also want to thank all of the many volunteers who assisted throughout the weekend; without you our success could not have been possible.
To all those who attended the Cris Williamson and/or Paula Poundstone performances we greatly appreciate your support. Both Cris and Paula commented on how enthusiastic and responsive audiences are in Rehoboth Beach and both look forward to a return engagement. Our goal is to continue to bring entertainment to Rehoboth Beach and our community. With your continued support we look forward to many more evenings of music and comedy. We welcome suggestions for future performers. Please email your comments to elbowproductions@comcast. net or visit www.elbowproductions.net. Thank you again for your continued support. Ellen Feinberg, Lesley Rogan, Barbara Fishel, and Wendy Grooms On behalf of the Sussex County AIDS Council, and the many we serve, I wish to thank you for participating in Lifeline 3. We raised, with your help, a total of $3,650.00. The number of people living with HIV and AIDS in Sussex County continues to grow, as do SCAC's levels of service. Last year, SCAC provided supportive services (financial, transportation, and food assistance) to 200 people in Sussex County living with HIV/AIDS. We paid more than $75,000 for clients' housing and medical bills. In just five years, SCAC has paid more than $280,000 for clients' housing and medical costs when no other resources were available. And nearly two-thirds of those bills were paid through generous community supportnot through government grants or contract reimbursements. In 2005, SCAC volunteer drivers traveled nearly 47,000 miles taking clients to and from their medical appointments. (That' s about the same distance as driving from Sussex County's Atlantic coast, across the USA to the Pacific Ocean, and back here again more than eight times!) Last year, SCAC spent more than $11,000 to purchase nearly 30,000 individual food items for clients. While about 70 bags of non-perishable food are delivered directly to client's homes, other clients pick up fresh, frozen, and packaged food each month at SCAC. The federal and state funding SCAC receives for these programs do not cover even half of the costs for our services. Your kindness and generosity is most important in helping us continue our work with persons living with or at-risk for HIV/AIDS. Steve Twilley Executive Director, SCAC I live in Washington, D.C. and own a home in Milton where I spend most weekends. I am running in my second annual AIDS Marathon in Florence, Italy over Thanksgiving. (The 5K and 10K's I have participated in the Rehoboth area have helped me get ready for the marathon.) I need to raise $2,000 of my $4,000 fundraising goal by Sept. 7 and am asking the reader's of Letters from CAMP Rehoboth to consider helping me. To donate and find out more information about the program, please go to www.aidsmarathon.com. Select Sponsor a Runner, Washington DC, and enter my runner number 4390.
