| Servicemen To Be Honored at Choral Society Concert
"Someone once said that the dominant feeling on the battlefield is loneliness....The other emotions are fear and exhaustion. Simply put, you are always afraid and you are always tired." So begins an e-mail message that Col. Matthew Bogdanos, USMC sent out to family and friends. This excerpt is one of 11 readings of poems and letters that will be interspersed throughout the Southern Delaware Choral Society's spring concert featuring the works of Haydn. The concert will be a celebration of the 200th anniversary of his death and will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Epworth United Methodist Church on Holland Glade Road in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware at 7:30 p.m. Beth Hochholzer, Board Member of the SDCS, has been busy coordinating and preparing the letters that will be read at the concert. Under the direction of John Ranney, the concert will feature Haydn's "Mass in Time of War," including the "Te Deum" and the "Lord Nelson Mass." In between the parts of the two masses, letters will be read to the audience from soldiers who have served, or are currently serving, in Iraq or Afghanistan. The concert will end with a song written and conducted by local composer, Roo Brown, titled "You Will Be With Us." Tickets for the concert are $20 for adults, $8 for students. Tickets are available on-line at www.sdchoralsociety.org, at Puzzles in Lewes, and at Browseabout Books in Rehoboth or by calling 302-645-2013.
Nationally known entertainers, comedienne Ren Hicks and jazz singer Sweet Baby J'ai, gave their audiences more than they could have hoped for when they took the stage of the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center for performances during the ninth annual CAMP Rehoboth Women's Weekend. The performers were the first of a summer of fun sponsored by CAMP Rehoboth. Photos by Carolyn Watson Photography
Bill Bernhart and Ken Reilly took cleaning to a new level last month when they power washed the courtyard and building facade in the courtyard of the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center.
CAMP Rehoboth volunteers were joined by members of Epworth United Methodist Church at the Westside New Beginnings Community Center in West Rehoboth on Saturday, May 2, for a day of work inside and out. Under the direction of Claire Ippoliti, the CAMP volunteers painted a large portion of the interior of the community center and gave a fresh new look to the children's library. Look for other volunteer opportunities soon.

Spring may have just arrived, but planning is already underway for the 2009 Delaware AIDS Walk scheduled for October. Sharyn Warwick, Sussex County Coordinator, Glen Pruitt from the Delaware HIV Consortium, and Kent County Coordinator Rob Clemons recently met in one of the conference rooms available at the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center.
