CAMP plans an expanded Women’s FEST for April 8-11
Keeping what was great about a decade of Women’s Conferences held each spring, but changing the event name and expanding its offerings is what the new CAMP Rehoboth Women’s FEST is all about.
The CAMP Women’s FEST Committee is already meeting weekly to plan the April 8-11 event and make certain that plenty of publicity goes out up and down the East Coast to bring a crowd to town to celebrate.
The Women’s FEST (FEST is an acronym for Fun, Entertainment, Spring, Tradition) is set to become a very big tourism event for Rehoboth as well as another amazing program for locals produced by CAMP Rehoboth.
In fact, the program is so expanded this year that our co-sponsor is Olivia Travel! They will be donating a cruise to be raffled off, and sponsoring our events!
Plans call for a Welcome Night/Locals Night Happy Hour, discounts at local restaurants, a celebrity Trivia event and more on Thursday, April 8.
For Friday, the popular 9-hole Golf Outing will once again be on the schedule, along with other activities such as a possible bike ride, narrated Rehoboth tour, book signings and more.
In addition to a happy hour and art reception featuring female artists, and more dining discounts, there will be a Friday Night concert bringing comic Maggie Cassella—the toast of sister-city Provincetown, Mass. to Rehoboth for the first time. Maggie’s fast-paced, political and social rant has had audiences howling at the famed Post Office Cabaret in P-Town, with fans known to line up rain or shine for tickets. Here, Maggie will be headlining at the RB Theatre of the Arts on Baltimore Avenue.
On Saturday the Committee is working for the most dramatic changes. What formerly was the Women’s Conference will now be part of a spectacular Saturday filled with events.
A continental breakfast will be provided at the RB Convention Center prior to the start of a day filled with…not classes…not workshops…but FEMinars—more Fun, Education, and Mingling than seminars, and designed specifically for the Women’s FEST crowd.
While there will still be the choice of important topics, like legal, financial and medical advice for women, the schedule will also be packed with FEMinars on healthy cooking, mixology, two-stepping, poker playing and a host of other intriguing and fun topics—things you will not find any place else.
There will be no formal lunchtime meal or speakers this year, giving participants the free time to sample from Rehoboth’s awesome roster of restaurants, many offering discounts to participants.
In addition, plans are underway for the FEST to offer an on-site photo studio for portraits (couples, friends, pets!), and many more perks to FEMinar-goers.
By 4 p.m. on Saturday the Convention Center will turn into a dance hall for a huge Ladies Tea Dance with great music and, of course, adult beverages!
Gals will want to get in on dinner discounts around town following the dance and get ready for the signature event of the weekend: an encore appearance by Singer/Entertainer Sweet Baby J’ai at the RB Theatre of the Arts. If you caught her act last year, it’s a sure bet you will put your black drawers on and head right back; if you missed her in ’09, here’s your chance to remedy the error. The buzz about Sweet Baby J’ai was like nothing we’ve ever heard before in town—and this year you must be there to witness an unforgettable evening of music and community.
By Sunday, April 11, a slower pace may be in order, as CAMP Rehoboth will offer morning Tai Chi at the Community Center followed by the classic Women’s FEST brunch. Also on tap is a Charity Poker Event at CAMP Rehoboth and a closing party at one of Rehoboth‘s favorite watering holes.
Not only is the program coming together early, but the FEST Pass will go on sale early this year, too. For $50, women will be able to purchase a pass offering entry to the Saturday breakfast, the FEMinar sessions, valuable discounts from a long list of restaurants, free professional portraits, and Tai Chi class and much more. On sale in time for the holidays, a FEST PASS will make a great stocking stuffer! Event organizers are lining up hotel and B&B discounts as well.
Tickets for the concerts will go on sale in mid-January, and with a smaller venue this year, they will sell out fast. Letters is giving you this heads-up now so you can make your plans. The committee certainly is hard at work!
