Hard to believe, but this is the Fourth of July issue of Letters from CAMP Rehoboth. Though the season officially started on Memorial Day weekend, from now on it really kicks into high gear. As can be seen in the CAMPshots galleries, “this joint is jumpin’!” There’s always something happening in Rehoboth Beach.
On July 4th, the boys of 6 Futcher Drive are once again raising money for CAMP Rehoboth with their legendary pool party—this year called All American Circus. (Come one! Come all! Step right up for the greatest pool party on earth!) The suggested ticket donation for the party is $15, and may be purchased in advance on the CAMP Rehoboth website. Our thanks go to the “ringmasters” of the event for their generosity to CAMP Rehoboth and to our community.
On Tuesday, July 17, at 5 p.m., Accent on Travel has invited some of the most luxurious cruise lines in the world for a very special event at CAMP Rehoboth. If you enjoy cruising (on a ship, that is!), these experts will have all kinds of interesting offers for you—plus it benefits CAMP Rehoboth! Come enjoy the wine and hors d’oeuvres, and make your next vacation a fabulous cruise experience. Space is limited, so RSVP by calling 302-703-2448, or follow the link on the CAMP Rehoboth website.
We are all really thrilled that Christopher Peterson is returning to the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center on July 28. Christopher is starring as Judy Garland in a brand new musical production of Typhoon Judy. The show, created by Darrin Hagen and Christopher Peterson, is presented by Bruce Pfeufer and Mini Bear Graphics as a benefit for the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center. Tickets for this one-night-only production are going fast and may be purchased on the CAMP Rehoboth website or by calling 302-227-5620. First section table seating is already sold out; remaining tickets are: second section, $75; third section $50; fourth section, $30. Doors open at 8 p.m., show time is 9 p.m., plus a cash bar.
CAMP Rehoboth’s Health Services Director Sal Seeley has announced that our CAMP Rehoboth Health Day will be returning on July 21 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center. In partnership with Beebe Medical Center, Health Day nurses will offer cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure, and body fat tests, as well as our usual HIV and STI tests. All tests are free; stop in to see us.
On Friday, June 29—the morning that this issue of Letters hits the street—I’ll be pitching in to help out at the seventh annual CAMP Rehoboth Golf Classic at Marsh Island Golf Club. The classic would never happen without the hard work of its dedicated chairs, Barb Thompson and Evie Simmons. Every year, I witness the tremendous effort that Barb and Evie put into making this a great time for everyone involved. The Golf Classic benefits CAMP Rehoboth, the Metropolitan Community Church Building Fund, and the West Rehoboth Youth Program. The Golf Classic is sponsored by Karen Gustafson, at move2rehoboth.com. Thanks Karen!
For me, one of the most exciting things about this summer is the 25th Anniversary Sundance on Labor Day weekend. Sundance has always been an anniversary party for Murray and me (the first one was our 10th anniversary), and we’re very proud of the fact that the event continues to be an important part of the summer season here in Rehoboth Beach. In celebration of this momentous occasion, we’re hoping to get everyone who has ever been a Sundance Host, Supporter, or Sponsor to participate in this year’s Sundance 2012: Legend of the Silver Rainbow. All levels of support, as well as ticket sales, are now available on the CAMP Rehoboth website. We are also looking for photos and posters from the early years of Sundance.
