Sundance Auction: Going Once, Twice, and Sold!
Though it wasn’t a part of the original Sundance, the Auction night of Sundance has grown into a spectacular night that stands all on its own. With close to 500 items—including two dozen exceptional ones auctioned live—it is not an exaggeration to say that the Sundance Auction really does have something for every taste and budget.
Since 2010, auctioneer Lorne Crawford, of Crawford Auction House has kept the Sundance Live Auction jumping. Since that time, he has become, in the words of Sundance Co-chair Steve Elkins, “the official auctioneer of Sundance. Now we can’t imagine the Auction without him,” he says. “He is most definitely a vital part of the Sundance family.”
As owner of one of the premier auction houses in Central Pennsylvania, Lorne manages over 60 auctions a year. “But the auction I have most looked forward to for the past six years is the annual Sundance Auction,” he says. I am so very proud to play a small role in this amazing event…truly by far my favorite event of the year!”
This year, when Lorne steps into the spotlight to kick off another exiting Sundance Auction night, he will have a fantastic lineup of items on the auction block.
At the top of the list, are several incredible travel experiences, most notably, an over-the-top Uniworld European Boutique River Boat Cruise from CAMP Rehoboth Annual Premier Sponsor Accent on Travel. This 7-night/8-day cruise is valid for any 2015/2016 Uniworld European departures—and it includes all meals, onboard beverages, accommodations, gratuities and shore excursions.
Longtime CAMP Rehoboth supporter and sponsor Olivia returns to the Sundance Auction with another amazing trip—this time a Caribbean Escape Cruise—just when it will be needed the most: January 30-February 6, 2016.
Also arranged by Accent On Travel, an incredible luxury San Francisco and Napa Valley 5-night/6-day Romantic Retreat for Wine Lovers that includes: Round trip flights to San Francisco, luxury transfers to, and a two night stay at, the Fairmont Hotel, three night accommodations at the luxury The Cameros Inn, the travel services of Accent on Travel and much more.

Art is always high on a Sundance bidding list, and this year some gorgeous art is up for sale. Caroline Huff’s beautiful 36”x48”, acrylic on linen canvas, titled Old Boat,Chesapeake is perfect for any house—especially here on the Eastern Shore. Ward Ellinger of Ward Ellinger Gallery has given Transitions, a stunning, 48”x60”, acrylic on canvas abstract painting. Artist Bill Snow, a Sundance favorite, has given Rehoboth Beach Cottage by the Dunes, a 16”x20” oil on canvas.
From Sundance Auction Co-chair Natalie Moss, there is a VIP 49cc Gas Scooter, and from Sundance Team Captains Laura Simon and Cathin Bishop, a beautiful new 55” Vizio TV. Plus a gorgeous 14k multi-color sapphire cross and princess cut pendant from Holland Jewelers.
From designer Rex Rogosch of rSquared Design on Baltimore Avenue, the Auction will feature his stylish, custom designed, faux ostrich skin, Eva Barrel Chair.
The 2015 Sundance Auction includes an open bar all night, and a cocktail buffet. Sundance Food Team Captain Jane Blue is very excited about this year’s event. “The Food Team has again selected Plate Catering, this time with a picnic theme,” she says, “including two hot and one cold slider…who doesn’t like a picnic on Labor Day weekend!”
