Another Take LGBT Mini Film Fest - Hollywood, je t'aime

Date:
03/13/2010 - 7:00pm - 9:00pm

CAMP Rehoboth and the Rehoboth Beach Film Society present Another Take 2010, an LGBT Mini-Film festival at the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center, 37 Baltimore Avenue in Rehoboth Beach. Due to bad weather Another Take has been rescheduled as follows:

Night Fliers | Thursday, March 11, 7 pm Already firmly in a life crisis at 12, things go from bad to worse for Jesse Hawthorne when her emotionally disconnected father moves the family to a rural town, a place whose beauty belies the toxic normality at its core. Jesse is almost immediately bullied by the local mini-mean girls in training, who find Jesse's tomboy nature both repellent and yet somehow attractive. Her only ally is neighbor Jacob, who has his own demons (including an aggressive paint huffing brother) that he is trying to escape. Together, they bond with the local super-nerds, and, as puberty begins to hit their circle, everyone soon has a crush on each other, regardless of gender. Once Jesse and her outsider posse discover punk rock and sneaking out to shows, nothing will stop them as they embrace who they are and rise above the closed minds of their community.

Pop Star On Ice | Friday, March 12, 7 pm Pop Star On Ice is an unprecedented behind-the-scenes portrait of outspoken Olympian, three-time US Figure Skating National Champion, and 2010 US Olympic team member Johnny Weir. When Johnny fails to win a medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics, the media turns on him and he feels the backlash. Love him or hate him, Johnny is one of the most talented skaters of all time, but talent alone does not make a champion.

Hollywood, je t'aime | Saturday, March 13, 7 pm Recently broken up and barely enduring a dreary winter, gay Parisian Jerome Beaunez impulsively books a solo Christmas vacation to Los Angeles. While there he meets some colorful locals and pursues a dormant desire to become a movie star - but never can quite put the past behind him. In this meditation on love and narcissism across continents, Jerome goes far in the sun-drenched City of Angels but ultimately arrives at an old Hollywood maxim: there's no place like home. Tickets--$7 per film--are available by calling the Rehoboth Beach Film Society at 302-645-9095.
