Kevin Taylor Medwedeff
Age 47, of Washington DC passed away suddenly on February 13, 2011.
Beloved son of Chan and Toni Medwedeff of Ashburn, Va.; dear brother of David Medwedeff and his wife, Judi of Vienna, Va., and Lisa Medwedeff of Maui, adored uncle of Michael, Cameron and Phoenix Medwedeff.
Kevin was a 1982 graduate of James Madison High School and a 1987 graduate of Penn State University. A celebration of Kevin’s Life took place on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the Providence Presbyterian Church, Fairfax, Va. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association, your local Animal Rescue League or the Whitman-Walker Clinic, Washington DC. Arrangements were by the Everly Funeral Home, Fairfax Va.
Kevin recently moved back to Washington, DC after living in Ft. Lauderdale for four years, and he spent many weekends with friends in Rehoboth Beach. While here, he enjoyed the sun on Poodle Beach and volunteering for CAMP Rehoboth.
A memorial reception will be held in Rehoboth Beach on June 26, 2011 from 2-5 p.m. at CAMP Rehoboth, 37 Baltimore Avenue.
Curt Raymond Schaefer
Curt Raymond Schaefer, an architect who was an advocate for the rejuvenation of aging Baltimore landmarks, died Sunday, January 16, 2011, of complications from the flu at his home on East Mount Vernon Place. He was 51.
Mr. Schaefer was born in Bad Cannstatt, Germany, where his father was stationed in the military. He was raised in Camp Hill, Pa. He was a graduate of Cedar Cliff High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Temple University in 1985.
For the past 14 years, he had been employed at Kann Partners, architects in downtown Baltimore. He was a project manager and studio team leader. Mr. Schaefer worked with design teams on the preservation of the Druid Park Conservatory, the Lab School on the old Goucher College campus and the Enoch Pratt Free Library’s Canton and Edmondson Village branches.
At the beginning of his career in Baltimore, Mr. Schaefer worked on a number of Baltimore County elementary schools in need of renovation: Stoneleigh, Deer Park, Powhatan, McCormick, Seneca, Kingsville and Oakleigh. He later began focusing on downtown Baltimore’s commercial buildings, built before and after the Great Fire of 1904. He assisted in the conversion of several into hotels, including the old Hotel Junker on East Fayette Street, the Oldtown National Bank and the Title Guarantee Building on St. Paul Street. Several years ago, he began one of his more ambitious projects, the renovation of a structure with a cast-iron facade at 311 W. Baltimore St. called the West Side Lofts.
Mr. Schaefer also worked on the Kresge Building at Park Avenue and Lexington Street, Calvert Hall at St. Mary’s College in St. Mary’s City, the Clarence M. Mitchell Jr. Courthouse, the Police Academy, the Abel Wolman Building, University Baptist Church, the old Bibelot bookstores, the Fort Howard Outpatient Clinic for the Veterans Administration and the Mason F. Lord Center at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Campus.
Mr. Schaefer spent his summers at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, where he shared a home.

Sandra Mitchell-Fenner
Sandra Kay Mitchell-Fenner died February 9, 2011. She was 67.
Born in Sewickley, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Virginia Mitchell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie, and sister, Judy.
Sandy was the loving mother of Curtis Fenner, Jr. and wife Cindy of Huntingtown, Md., and Michael Fenner and wife Laura of Martinsburg, W.Va.; three natural grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; brothers Wayne and Johnny, sister Pat; several nieces and nephews; and longtime friend and endeared family member, Jean Richardson of Lewes.
Sandy loved eating at the Seafood Shack where her favorite entertainer was Kathy Gorman. Her favorite pastime activity was playing bar bingo at AMVETS, Millsboro.
A memorial service and luncheon will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 12, at the Heritage Harbour Community Center, 959 River Strand Loop, Annapolis, Md. Internment will be in Fort Lincoln Cemetery at a later date.
