This is a FREE 6-week Healthy Living Program that is designed to help adults who are living with chronic pain take charge of their health and their life! Adults caring for someone living with chronic pain are welcome to register as well.
Classes are open to adults of all ages and abilities. All self-management programs are evidence-based and were originally developed at Stanford University. This program is offered locally by Beebe Healthcare in partnership with the Delaware Division of Public Health.
People with chronic pain attend together to:
Develop weekly action plans based on their needs
Share experiences
Help each other solve problems they encounter in creating and carrying out their self-management program
Topics participants will learn about include:
Techniques to deal with problems such as frustration, fatigue, isolation, and poor sleep
Appropriate exercise for maintaining and improving strength, flexibility, and endurance
Appropriate use of medications
Communicating effectively with family, friends, and health professionals
Nutrition
Pacing activity and rest
How to evaluate new treatments.
There is not cost for the workshop; it is free and includes class instruction & program materials.
The group meets weekly on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center, 37 Baltimore Ave. The first meeting is Wednesday, September 25th.
