In this session, we'll discuss how to be an ally to BLM and intersectionality within Queer spaces, starting with understanding your own identity and how you can use your resources to advocate for yourself and others. You'll leave with tools for managing racial stress, challenging racism, and advocating for systemic change both within and around the LGBTQ community.

Noelle Picara is the Arts Integration Specialist at Kuumba Academy, with 17 years of experience as a performing arts educator. Noelle has facilitated several Dialogue to Action groups on challenging racism at the YWCA, and in 2019 gave a TEDx talk entitled "Dismantling White Supremacy in Education." She was recently appointed as the director of Diversity and Equity for the Delaware Music Educators Association, and in September launched a new podcast premiering with an interview of transgender politician Sarah McBride, "Art of Liberation." Noelle is a queer cis-woman who is Irish/German-American and a 5th generation Delawarean. Her favorite food is peanut butter.
