On behalf of the staff and residents of Whitman-Walker Clinics Schwartz Housing Services (SHS), I would like to thank the many members of the Rehoboth Beach business community for making our annual beach trip such a memorable event. Many offered discounts for accommodations, food and entertainment that made our visit possible. The trip was the first time that many of our residents, all of whom are living with HIV and AIDS, had ever had an opportunity to leave the Washington D.C. area and see the ocean.
I would particularly like to thank the staff at The Sand Castle Motel for their patience and the gang at Cloud 9 for providing us all with a memorable dining experience. Special thanks, too, goes to the staff at the Crystal Restaurant for the delicious breakfast.
Since 1982, Schwartz Housing Services has been providing permanent, low-cost housing for people living with HIV and AIDS in the Washington, D.C. area. Whitman-Walker Clinic operates 11 housing facilities throughout D.C. and Northern Virginia. The program provides housing for nearly 100 men, women and children in a variety of settings designed to meet clients individual needs. All services are provided without regard to race, creed, sexual orientation, national origin or religious belief.
Throughout the year, two overnight trips and four day trips are provided to the residents of Schwartz Housing Services, through the Richard Krampf Activity Fund. This fund is in honor of Richard Krampf, a long-time volunteer of Whitman-Walker and Schwartz Housing Services. The fund is supported largely through donations from private individuals.
The lives of all our housing residents are greatly enriched by the activities organized through the Richard Krampf Activity Fund, which would not be possible without the support of individuals, corporations and businesses here and elsewhere. We are deeply grateful.
Sincerely,
Christine Campbell, Director Schwartz Housing Services
