LETTERS From CAMP Rehoboth |
Rushing to the Beach |

You say you want to spend your summer at the beach? And you need a place to stay? Look no further. The 6th annual Beach House Rush Party comes your way on Sunday, February 7, 1999 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Cobalt, 17th and R Streets, NW in Washington, D.C. The Beach House Rush Party is an effective networking venue for anyone wanting to buy a summer time-share in Rehoboth Beach. CAMP Rehoboth is presenting the Rush Party, an open-to-all event. It will be packed with Rehoboth homeowners and summer lease-holders who sell time-shares which typically run from Memorial Day to Labor Day. For many, attending the party eliminates having to network in local bars or scan the daily want ads. Conveniently, it brings all the necessary people together in one place, at one time. Created in 1994, the Beach House Rush Party was in response to the growing number of people who wanted to join a Rehoboth beach house, but didnt know how. Today, the party boasts an attendance of over 300 people, all of whom spend the better part of three hours exchanging names and numbers (and winning fabulous door prizes provided by Rehoboth area businesses). In order to identify one another, the homeowners/lease-holders wear a blue colored nametag that displays the address of their property while the prospective share buyers wear a red nametag. Plenty of introductions are made, questions asked, and by the time its all over, beach houses formed. For those who dont find what theyre looking for, dont worry. The opportunity to join a Rehoboth beach house doesnt end once the party is over. Often, a person will go home with a handful of phone numbers, flyers from various beach houses, and business cards from real estate agents. In other words, they will have more than enough options to consider as well as a new network of contacts to call over the next few weeks. This year, a new website is acting as a supplement to the Beach House Rush Party. Its called The Rehoboth Beach House Network, at www.beachhousenetwork.com. Its purpose is to provide beach-goers with a network of beach house possibilities long after the Rush Party is over. The Beach House Network website posts all beach houses that have available shares for sale. It provides a brief description of each house along with the share cost and a point-of-contact person (known in Rehoboth as the "House Mother"). The site also includes a name and number listing of people who are interested in buying shares. To get listed on this site, simply fill out a registration form at the Rush Party. Get a head start, fill out a form on the website, or call CAMP Rehoboth at 302 227-5620. See you in February!
