In Brief |
LOVE 2 LOVE U Baby
There will never be any shortages of songs about love. The root of most music is loveabout getting it, keeping it, losing it, needing it, wanting it, and giving it. Love is in the air, Love is all you need, What the world need now is love sweet love, Stop in the name of Lovethe list is endless. We love to love, and we love all that goes along with iteven the hard parts. For five years now, many of us in Rehoboth have celebrated our own brand of love every July 4th weekend in the form of the LOVE Benefit at the Rehoboth Convention Center. Every event of this sort takes a lot of people to make it work, but behind all of those people there is always a person or persons willing to assume command and give the event the special push it needs to make it happen. In the beginning that push came from LOVE creator George Domurot. When Georges business moved him on to Atlanta and new challenges, the torch was passed to Charlie Codacovi for two years. Mark Aguirre stepped in as Chair of the LOVE 99 event, and without his direction it is doubtful that there would have been any LOVE at all. The proceeds from LOVE 99, approximately $32,000, will benefit Sussex County AIDS Committee (70%) and CAMP Rehoboth (30%). "A great many people worked to make it happen," said Mark Aguirre after this years event. "I am especially thankful to the many CAMP Rehoboth and SCAC volunteers who pitched in to help. Its impossible to thank everyonefrom bar manager Rob Dick and the Blue Moon for the Bachelor Auction, Randy Overbaugh and Cloud 9, Dr. Jim DOrta for hosting the beautiful sponsors party, and to the sponsors and hostsI can say that I am already looking forward to getting started on LOVE 2000." Rehoboth Beach Cottage & Town Award Announcement The Rehoboth Beach Cottage and Town Awards Committee, in partnership with Rehoboth Beach Main Street, is now accepting nominations for its third annual awards.
