There wasnt any sunshine last weekend, but the heat index inside the Blue Moon was off the chart at the fourth annual Bachelor Auction. Fourteen mouth-watering bachelors and a drag queen named Gladys were enough to keep bidders in a red hot, hand-raising rage. When all was said and done, the bubbly bachelors (with the help of MC Chris Riss and $2,600 worth of bids from Jack Allegrezza) brought in a record-breaking $10,100 to be donated to the July 4th dance benefit, LOVE99. Those who attended the Bachelor Auction, a.k.a Strip Tease 99, can testify to one thing: There were more butts visible on stage then youll ever find in an ashtray! Its no surprise, then, that the boys who bared it all, like Neil Cauldill and Doug Williams, went for twelve hundred bucks a piece. CAMPsafe Life Guard, Mike Ferens, wasn't far behind with winning bid at $1,000. And bringing up the rear (pun intended), were John Lehmann and Greg Brennan, who each snagged bidders at $800. Yes, it was surely a display of Rehoboths best buns. Now lets see if we can say Blue Moon without smiling. As the bachelors finished zipping their trousers, it was time to celebrate the remainder of the evening at 23 Robinsons Tropical Paradise party. A few raindrops dropped, but that didnt stop party boys from dancing around in sarongs and the like. Members of 23 Robinson and 707 Bayard seemed to be the most spirited when it came to dressing for the theme, but the prize for best costume went to bachelor auctionee, Craig Hollinger, who wore his birthday suit while bartending. According to several witnesses, this was quite a sight since the most popular drink ordered all night was something called "Imabottom." In other news, precious poolboy, Petie Melchiorre, has purchased a palace at 318 Hickman. Apparently, Petie plans to transform the ten-bedroom mansion into Rehoboths first bordello. Under the guise of "Madame Melchiorre," Petie has already begun scouting Rehoboth for quality "talent." Already confirmed for next summer are 302 Laurels bordello queens, Sassy LaRue and Delta Dawn. For your own personal interview, call Petie at 1-302-HI-HEELS. After years of collecting party invitations and hanging them on the refrigerator, 24 Annie B super couple, Mark Cunningham and Ken Tattersall, have decided to wipe the slate clean by taking down the invites and incorporating them into a photo album archive. The album is sure to stir up many fond memories as well as hours of reminiscing. At the present time, however, Mark and Ken wont disclose the year that the first invite was collected, which begs the question: Just how far back does this terrific twosome go? The answer may never be known, although rumor has it that the refrigerator beneath all those invites is in the hue of avocado! If you like to swing from vines, then check out 208 Hickmans Tarzan Party, Saturday, June 19th from 9 p.m. to midnight. Bachelor Auction high bidder and house mother Jack Allegrezza, a.k.a. "Daddy Jack" and all of his "Janes" are sure to show you a good time. Then its off to the Renegade for more vine swinging at their Tarzan Jungle Party. Just rememberif you go as Cheetah, watch where you put your banana! Be reminded that LOVE 99 is happening on Sunday, July 4th from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the Rehoboth Convention Center to benefit SCAC and CAMP Rehoboth. The event is open bar, and will feature DJ Darryl Strickland. Tickets are $35 in advance by calling 1-800-494-TIXS and $45 at the door.
