Founded more than twenty years ago by artistic visionary, Mary Hale, Ballet Florida consistently earns national recognition for its work in dance and education. Incorporated as Ballet Arts Foundation in 1973, the company began as a dance school and formed its professional company in 1986. Over the past 11 years, Ballet Florida has earned the distinction of being one of the fastest growing dance companies in America. The mission of the Sussex Arts Council is to serve the people of Sussex County by educating, advocating, and presenting cultural events throughout the county. "We are excited at the prospect of returning professional dance to the people of Sussex County and hope this is only the first of many future events," stated arts council director Rebecca Craft. This tour of Ballet Florida is made possible in part by a grant from the Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation in partnership with the Delaware Division of the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Corning Foundation, and the Capezio/Ballet Makers Foundation. For performance or ticket information or any other information concerning SAC activities, contact the Sussex Arts Council at (302) 856-5421. The activities of the Sussex Arts Council are made possible in part by the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency committed to promoting and supporting the arts in Delaware. The Division of the Arts provides technical assistance to artists and arts programs and serves as a clearinghouse for information on the arts. |
