Can't Stop the Music |

Celeda This Is It Twisted The house masters at Twisted, who continue to reign as king (and in some cases, queen) of this genre, have once again struck gold with their latest discovery and solo seductress, Celeda. First introduced as the soaringand need I say, powerhousevocal diva on Danny Tenaglias 1998 club hit, "Music Is The Answer," and her own "Messin With My Mind," Celeda is sure to break out with her soul-infused, blow-the-roof-off- the-house debut. The fierce, husky voiced siren is clearly a contender, as proved by the 14 club-oriented cuts, produced by a bevy of Twisteds leading men, including Peter Rauhofer, Maurice Joshua, Mike Dern, Cevin Fisher and Tenaglia. On "Burnin Up," Celeda is sweltering, while on "Hooked On You," the songstress brings down the joint with a gospel-infused and haunting chant. Club bunnies will clamor to hear her and to be herespecially after spinning "Be Yourself" and "Happy," on which the diva lets loose with a no-holes-barred turn. Soundtrack Go Work/Sony The soundtrack to this much hyped film starring Party of Fives Scott Wolf and Jay Mohr is as thrilling as the prospect of seeing those handsome actors heat up the screen as gay lovers. Led off by No Doubts exhilarating "New," the bands first song in nearly two years, the soundtrack is an alternative pop lovers dream collection. Equally as enthrallingand intoxicatingis "Steal My Sunshine" by newcomers LEN. Others finding their way on to this deliciously enjoyable recording includes Eagle-Eye Cherry, Natalie Imbruglia, Batboy Slim, Esthero, Lionrock, Goldo, Leftfield, DJ Rap, Jimmy Luxury and Steppenwolff. The latters "Magic Carpet Ride" gets a brilliant remix by Philip Steir, who turns the gem into a rousing anthem for spring. Adam Guettel Myths and Hymns Nonesuch/Atlantic Composer/lyricist Guettel is one of the freshest faces on the modern classical scene. On his sophomore release, the up-and-coming song stylist composes a song cycle built around faith and longing in a secular world. Adapted from classic Greek myths and the text of an early American hymnbook, the gorgeous array of theatrically infused compositions travels a journey of exquisite proportions to tell a tale that is both hypnotic and mesmerizing. While the set is intended to be a compendium to Guettels critically praised 1998 production "Saturn Returns: A Concert," it easily stands on its own as a brilliant piece of American theatre and is a testament to a truly gifted composer.
