Straight Eights Car Show is a Lesson in Accessorizing |
The Straight Eights Chapter of the Lambda Car Club International invites you to join them in Rehoboth's Grove Park on the final summer weekend of the twentieth century, for a celebration of chrome, fins, and fender skirts. In case you haven't figured it out, that's this Saturday, Sept. 18, and it is from noon until 3:00 p.m. Automobiles in the show will feature the practicality of the 40's that followed World War II, the chrome and excesses that marked the American turnpike cruise of the 50's, and the luxury land-yachts of the 60's. And for good measure, there will be a few examples of the post gas crisis 70's, 80's and 90's. The cars will leave The Breaker's Hotel at noon and parade around Rehoboth Beach through The Pines and past the beaches, then down First Street to Rehoboth Avenue. The parade will end at Grove Parklocated at the intersection of Rehoboth and Columbia Avenues at the Canalwhere the Straight Eights will show their favorite toys, polished and accessorized like you've never seen. Both the parade and the car show promise to be real traffic stoppers. Come judge for yourself. It will be a ball. |
