Mark Bates and his weekly rental group at 117 Atlantic hosted their annual late evening pool party. This summer they had one rule: Swimsuits prohibited. Of course this rule scared away the shy, but at least 40 others followed it to their maximum potential. Many of the nude party boys thought long and hard before deciding to get Wet. Others hung out to the left and the right of the pool. Meanwhile 10 George's Victor Widecheeks didn't waste any time and was seen playing in the deep end with lots of balls. After an hour or so, social crowd-pleaser, Chris Riss, hand picked a peck of pickled young peppers to join him at 334 Hickman's private bathhouse. For a detailed account of what took place, ask housemother and voyeur, Peter Melchiorre, who observed the steam session from his bedroom window. No arms were twisted to get people to attend and participate in 1 Robinson's "Twist Of Orange" party. In fact, most of the cocktail-bound beach bunnies were happy to wear their favorite outfit in orange, no matter how awful they looked in the color! Special mention should go to Brian Barber and Jack StrokeUs for their original orange sarongs complete with bulges in the front area. Banana in your sarong, boys? It was off to the circus during 22 William F's "Under the Big Top" party. Since the Poodle Beach social circle in general is already a circus, this party could have been redundant. However, the Ringmasters of William F. orchestrated a far better sideshow than what could ever develop on a beach blanket. It included appearances from Bozo the Clown a.k.a. Chris Riss (was he in costume?) and a very messy Sassy LaRue with whining daughter, Molly. The "Best Costume" award went to Leon and Blondie for creating the most convincing Siamese Twins. They also won the award for "Best Excuse for a Three-Way." 205 Hickman and 224 Country Club hosted the "Juicy Juice Machine" party and "Seabreeze" party, respectively. The titles to these back-to-back theme parties must have made all of Rehoboth thirsty because each party had an incredible turnout. And when everyone finally had their fair share of cocktails, it was time to be judged at 1015 Fifth Street's "Heaven & Hell" party, which was extremely well done. The yard was divided in half, blue for heaven, red for hell, each with its own entrance. Housemate, Tony Watkins, passed judgment on those who approached the main gates, sending Rehoboth's sinning population (just about everyone who attended) straight to hell. Even Kevin Litschgi's proper Pope John Paul was sent into the fiery depths while Cliff Lassahn's sneaky Satyr shook things up in Heaven. This weekend, don't miss 302 Laurel's highly anticipated "Dragocratic National Convention." Forget Republicans and Democrats. Vote DRAGocratic! Running for their lives (in heels) is stunning Sassy LaRue a.k.a. Brian Barber, marvelous Mary Pat McHunt a.k.a. Cliff Lassahn, and on her G.L.I.T.E.R.O.U.S platform is luschious Lotta Bush (Lesbians love Lotta Bush!) a.k.a. Chris Riss. Come on out to support your favorite leader. The convention runs from 5pm to 8pm. Then from 9pm to midnight drop the dress and get butch at 312 Bayard's Military Party. Yes, it's time to play with real men in real uniforms with more than just hair between their legs. These are the men of "Fort Dicks." If you're not tough enough for Jeff Sitzler's group, you just might find yourself licking boots. The military will never be the same! Labor Day weekend is sure to be filled with a host of activities about town. But there are two events we all should attend: 1) The annual Drag Volleyball tournament, which is Sunday, September 3rd at 1 p.m. on Poodle Beach; and 2) SUNDANCE 2000. SUNDANCE is a two-day event held over Labor Day weekend at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center. It includes a silent and live auction (Saturday, Sept.2 from 7 to 10 p.m.) and the main dance event (Sunday, Sept. 3 from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.) Both events include an open bar and music by DJ Mark Thomas. Tickets for SUNDANCE 2000 are on sale now! You can by them at CAMP Rehoboth at 39 Baltimore Ave., or by phone, 302-227-5620.
